"Does choosing hospice mean giving up hope?" or "What happens if someone lives past 6 months?"

One of the most common misconceptions about hospice care revolves around the Medicare "6-month rule." Many families worry that hospice is strictly for the final days of life, or that care automatically stops if a loved one lives beyond six months.

Here’s the truth: The 6-month rule is simply a clinical guideline for Medicare eligibility—not a limit on care. As long as a patient remains clinically eligible, hospice care can continue indefinitely!

Each season, we reflect back on the moments our teams honored a patient's Three Most Important Things in a truly meaningful way. Each story is a powerful reminder of the compassion, dedication, and creativity our teams bring to the patients and families we serve every day. This example brought us all joy and reminded us why the Three Most Important Things are so special.

Thank you, Team Morristown, for making this dream come true. Click here for the full story https://carishealthcare.com/the-sky-is-the-limit/

Knowing when it’s time for extra support isn't easy, but you don't have to navigate it alone. 💙🕊️

Many families struggle with knowing when hospice care is appropriate for a loved one. Recognizing the signs early—such as frequent hospital visits, increased assistance needed with daily tasks, unintentional weight loss, or recurring infections—allows families to access the compassionate care and relief they deserve sooner.

Hospice isn't about giving up hope; it's about shifting the focus to comfort, dignity, quality of life, and personal peace for both the patient and their family.

Did you know? Having a Medicare Advantage plan won’t delay or complicate your hospice coverage.

Many families wonder how hospice care works if they are enrolled in a private Medicare Advantage plan rather than Original Medicare. The good news is that the process is seamless!

When you elect to receive hospice care, Original Medicare (Part A) automatically steps in to cover your hospice services directly. Your Medicare Advantage plan stays active to cover care unrelated to your terminal diagnosis, ensuring you maintain complete, uninterrupted coverage without extra hassle.

Navigating insurance details can feel overwhelming, but our dedicated team is always here to handle the paperwork and guide your family every step of the way.

Did you know? Financial stress should never stand between your family and compassionate care.

One of the most common worries families face when considering hospice is the cost of care. Under the Medicare Hospice Benefit, covered care is provided at no cost to the patient.

Medicare covers 100% of allowable expenses related to the terminal diagnosis—including your expert care team (nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplains), specialized medical equipment, medical supplies, and medications related to pain and symptom management.

Our priority is making sure you can focus on spending quality, meaningful time with your loved ones without worrying about healthcare bills.

Please join us in congratulating Reggie Titmas on his promotion to the position of Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing for South Carolina.

Reggie joined Caris originally in 2018 as a Caris Representative for the Greenwood office, and later transferred to our Greenville location, where he achieved a record number of lives touched at both locations.

He has been serving as the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing since April of 2024. During this time, the region has grown from 215 lives touched to 265. Reggie has built a great team, and our retention has improved from 50% to currently 100% for 2026, with two of those Caris Representatives were promoted to Senior Caris Representatives.

Reggie’s dedication to providing world-class service and his unwavering commitment to excellence make him a great fit for this role.

Expressing gratitude for this opportunity, Reggie notes, “I'm extremely proud of my team's successes that we've made in South Carolina. I'm incredibly excited to continue the pace that our state has set this year and continue hitting new targets for many years to come.”

Did you know? You are never locked into a hospice provider if you aren't satisfied with your care.

Your comfort, trust, and peace of mind are what matter most. Under Medicare coverage guidelines, patients have the explicit right to change their hospice provider once during each benefit period if they feel their current agency is not meeting their expectations or needs.

Healthcare should always feel supportive, responsive, and tailored to your family. If you ever feel that your care needs to change, you have the freedom and authority to select an agency that better aligns with your goals.

Knowing your rights helps ensure you and your loved ones receive the high-caliber, compassionate care you deserve every single day.

Thank you, Tanya, for always going the extra mile for Vera. Tanya is one of our aides, and every time she visits, she makes sure Vera's hair is done and that she's feeling good before the day even starts.

It's a small thing, but it means a lot — caregiving isn't just about the medical side; it's about making someone feel like themselves.
