Some of you need to hear this.....

With spring already here or soon approaching, THANK GOODNESS for open windows! I have a puppy (6 months old) who has been spending the last few months of the winter trying to find ways to go potty in the house undetected. Now that the house is warming up, there are odd smells wafting in..... besides wet, stinky dog.

I've ramped up the essential oils and reeds to no avail, just isn't cutting it. I began thinking about all the traditional ways to have a cleaner, sweeter smell as you enter the front door and ran across an article about commercial scents.

I knew about most of these symptoms but had forgotten a few. Asthma attacks and other respiratory issues, headaches and migraines, skin irritation (dermatitis), hormone disruption and reduced fertility and/or impaired development of children’s bodies. Are you as amazed by that as I am? That's SERIOUS! :( All from wanting your house to smell better, amazing. Have you ever watched those commercials that make you feel like to be a good mom or housewife that this is an essential thing?! I have felt that same tug too.

Well, anyway, phthalates are the general monster in all this, a chemical added to help hold the fragrance. This is what
Rochester Medical says about that. "Certain phthalates can
harm the development of the reproductive system, especially in boys, and affect fertility in adults. Some phthalates are suspected of increasing the risk of cancer. Phthalates may contribute to
allergies and asthma. You can be exposed to these chemicals by using air fresheners." Anything else? (big eye roll) Well, yes "However, be aware of greenwashing – even products labeled "natural" or "green" can still contain harmful chemicals. Look for products with plant-based ingredients."

So where are we. Essential oils basically. When you're looking for something search for units or things that use essential oils as the freshening or scent agent. I've tried the reeds but haven't been impressed with them. I have a diffuser that works pretty well (from amazon, searching essential oil diffusers) and have been pretty happy with it. There are times when you take off your shoes and don't recognize the feet on the end of your legs. Has it ever been like that? You wanted to show off your new sandals or go barefoot somewhere and you're caught off guard by the cracks, dry skin and general poor condition of your appendages.

Do I have the thing for you.....I know, I know, you knew this was coming. Fabulous Foot Butter!! Now I KNOW a lot of you have tried this and love it (don't forget to comment below) and here are a few extra things people have told me. It's been used for treating and healing burns, keeping mosquitos away (rejoice Minnesota friends!) healing up deeper cracks in heels, keeping early nail fungus at bay, treating cracks and painful splits in older people's feet from developing into something nasty. A faithful friend said his podiatrist commented on how healthy his feet looked when he faithfully used it. Diabetics need to keep an eye on that!

It also is great for really dry spots on hands, elbows and arms/legs. It has an uplifting, refreshing smell you'll love. I knew a ranger who faithfully used it before putting on his gloves so that there weren't splits and cracks in his hands at the end of the day after handling wood and brush.

EUCALYPTUS!! Are you surprised? A few drops on your temples may help with a nagging headache, several drops on the back of your neck for a little boost of energy, breathe in the steam of boiling water for congestion, a little rubbed into your neck for a sore throat or on your outer ear for earaches!

Dr. Axe suggests this recipe for a natural v***r rub when you have a cold, cough or congestion.¼ cup olive oil
½ cup coconut oil
¼ cup grated beeswax
20 drops cedarwood essential oil
20 drops eucalyptus essential oil
glass jar

Instructions
Pour the olive oil, coconut oil and beeswax into a jar.
Place a saucepan with 2 inches of water over low heat.
Place jar in saucepan and allow oils and beeswax to melt. Stir with wooden spoon to combine.
Once combined, allow to cool and add in essential oils. Stir to combine.
Pour mixture into metal tins or storage containers and allow to set.

I remember as a child the comfort of v***r rub when I was sick and this is a rub you won't have to worry about putting on a child's skin since it's free of the petrochemicals NO ONE wants absorbed, right? Don't forget, eucalyptus is strong so you may want to dilute any application with a carrier oil, or any oil you have in the kitchen will do too.

One last word about our best seller, I promise. Deep Muscle Relief comes in several different forms, let me explain why.

There were so many women saying that they loved to knit but had had to quit because of arthritis pain in their fingers and hands. Up to that point I had just sold the liquid so I decided to turn the liquid into a stick form that anyone could use themselves without the mess of oil. A person could easily rub a stick into a knuckle or wrist and get some relief quickly.

I've heard some really positive comments from those of you who have tried our Deep Muscle products so I thought I'd share a success story.

A friend had some pretty regular back pain, daily. She used the Deep Oil almost every day and after rubbing it in, put a hot towel over the area. Some may have noticed on the label that I generally discourage this because it can feel pretty hot and I don't want that to dissuade you from trying it a second time....it even suggests NOT showering before or after applying it, because when your pores become open, it can feel uncomfortably warm. But she did and it was very helpful in getting the feeling of heat and comfort she needed. It will all depend on you and how it feels after trying it!

I went to a gym years ago and the weight lifters often had some tightness after starting a new set of exercises. Several of those men tried it and found real help with the inflamed areas they targeted.
