Artemisia absinthium, known as common wormwood is a medicinal plant that I have growing in the garden.

My initial interest in wormwood began after having a cat contract 'bobcat fever' from a tick bite then reading anecdotal evidence that the combination of wormwood and monolaruin may have corrected the illness.

As I read more about wormwood, I also learned that it is used with treating cancer, posseses antifungal and antimicrobial properties.

Wormwood is neuroprotective, antidepressant, and hepatoprotective (liver support).

Wormwood is acaricidal (kills ticks and mites), anthelmintic (kills parasites), antimalarial, and insecticidal.

If you're looking for a staple herb to have on hand, artemisia absinthium is it.

I'll continue talking about this amazing herb in coming posts, so be sure to share and save these for future reference.

Two very important books to read if you are interested in understanding vision health and thyroid health.

"Iodine: Why You Need It..." by Dr. Brownstein wastes no time getting straight to the point. I am reading it for learning more about thyroid health and my mind was blown with the statement that iodine is found in large amounts in the ciliary body of the eye. The health of the ciliary muscle is critical for proper vision. It is an interesting coincidence that vision correction and iodine deficiency are both at epidemic proportions. It could potentially be a safe assumption to make that iodine deficiency is a root cause in poor vision.

"Fixing my Gaze" by Susan Barry has been a blessing to read. It literally caught my eye in the public library, without ever having heard of Susan's story or her Ted Talk. This has been a key book for information about vision therapy. Her explanation and experience with The Brock String exercise helped the importantance of that exercise finally click in my mind. I knowingly struggle with my eyes "taking turns to see" and was told as a child I had a lazy eye. Until now, I hadn't came across information that also explained it in a way that helped me understand it can be corrected with time. Susan's book is a critical read for vision health.

Today's lunch was milk kefir. It's always so surprising to me how filling a simple food can be. This is a go-to meal for me when I don't have much time to prepare a meal.

If you want to start making milk kefir yourself, I have grains for sale to help you get started.

The first thing that I planted on the land that I purchased was this dream coming true. I planted two turkey brown figs trees and the harvest has finally reached the size of needing to pull the bottom of the shirt up to make a basket because there were too many for my hands to carry.
Don't give up, keep believing, and pay attention to how the Holy Spirit guides you.

The more foods that I am able to grow myself, and purchase from businesses that stand behind the promise that their foods are not treated with chemicals, the more I am starting to recognize that food sensitivities may very well be unlabeled chemical sensitivities.
Every time I plant potatoes by hand I am questioning my reasoning. A bag of organic potatoes is less than $4, and no sweating profusely in summer heat is required to harvest those off the grocery shelf. But what I don't see on the label is the chemicals sprayed to prevent mold, rot, and sprouting while the potatoes were in storage. That changes the taste of the potato, and common sense tells me that is also going to affect my own health in a compounding negative way over time.
I can remember eating certain foods as a child without issue. Then in my mid-30s the impact they had on my digestion was painful. Since switching to better options, and homegrown, the discomfort doesn't happen.
One of the most common food allergies is wheat gluten. But that same crop is also sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. Wouldn't it be more prudent to evaluate the added chemicals first?
Instead of pointing blame quickly on what can be seen, the question we need to humbly ask is, "Why?" Don't get attached to being right, don't be afraid to question what someone else is saying with factual confidence. Keep asking why, keep searching for answers.

So this was unexpected.

I have a large head. I joke it is to hold all of my smarts. It makes buying hats a pain because I make women's hats look like kid hats when I wear them. I found this one at TSC, and of course there'd be a bigger hat there for farmer's.

For the past month I have started supplementing with Lugol's iodine and Copper plus the complimentary supplements that go with them.

I put my hat on this morning and had to adjust the size to a smaller notch.

It's interesting because I have noticed my head size fluctuate with this hat. I started at two notches, then moved it to three for quite a while. Today it was too loose and I moved it to four.

It's interesting. I've also noticed over the past month my vision improvement jumped to the point of needing new trainers. And my mental health just feels overwhelmingly positive.

I'm working on a blog series about what I have been doing, what I am discovering. It involves a lot of iodine and possibly stumbled upon something that is hidden in plain sight about the relationship between iodine, PUFAs, and iodolipids.

Still combing through it because I don't want to say something out of line but I think we've been staring at a solution that was right there in the literature and it was just casually looked over.

What brought you to the Curing Vision community?

Several years ago I had began different diet styles; Clean Eating, Candida Diet, Paleo, and it was in the Paleo community that I learned diet can manage autoimmune disorders.

Then I discovered how living in a mold damaged home is dangerous and found the Alkaline Diet via The pH Miracle to help support mold removal. I felt so much better, but not 100% so I kept looking.

The autoimmune disorder that has stayed with me the longest is Hashimotos thyroiditis. It has taken me years of searching, and I'll continue because I love the topic of health so much. Iodine and copper supplementation are two at the top of my personal research and experimentation right now, along with keeping an Alkaline Diet mindset.

I wanted to share this book with you in case thyroid health is also a concern of yours. I don't know that I would have understood the material as well as I do now, 9 years ago, but very thankful to have found it and maybe it'll help shave a few years off your own health journey.
