🚨 BIG NEWS at River Bend Chiropractic! 🚨
We're excited to announce that Shockwave Therapy is coming to our office!
One of the questions I hear most is:
"What exactly is shockwave therapy?"
Despite the name, there are no electrical shocks involved. Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic (sound) waves that are delivered to injured tissues. These mechanical waves stimulate a healing response, improve blood vessel formation, reduce pain sensitivity, and encourage your body to remodel damaged tissue.
What conditions can it help?
Research shows shockwave therapy can be an excellent option for many chronic tendon and soft tissue conditions, including:
✅ Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
✅ Achilles tendinopathy
✅ Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
✅ Golfer's elbow
✅ Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee)
✅ Rotator cuff tendinopathy/calcific tendinitis
✅ Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (outside hip pain)
✅ Certain cases of chronic hamstring or gluteal tendinopathy
For many of these conditions, clinical practice guidelines and systematic reviews support shockwave therapy—especially when symptoms have persisted for several months and haven't responded well to other conservative treatments.
What does it feel like?
Most people describe it as a rapid tapping or pulsing sensation over the injured area.
If the tissue is irritated, it can be uncomfortable during treatment—but treatments are brief, and the intensity is adjusted to what you can tolerate. Many patients notice that each session becomes more comfortable as the tissue improves.
Is shockwave a miracle treatment?
No.
There isn't one treatment that fixes every injury.
At River Bend Chiropractic, I don't believe in one-size-fits-all care.
Instead, I combine treatments based on your diagnosis, goals, and what the evidence supports.
That may include:
✔️ Chiropractic care to restore movement
✔️ Shockwave therapy for chronic tendon problems
✔️ Class IV Laser Therapy to help manage pain and support healing
✔️ Dry Needling to address muscular pain and improve movement
✔️ Active rehabilitation to build strength and prevent the problem from returning
✔️ Massage therapy to improve soft tissue mobility and recovery
The goal isn't simply to make you feel better today.
It's to help you move better, recover faster, and stay active for the long term.
As always, we'll perform a thorough examination to determine whether you're actually a good candidate before recommending any treatment.
If you've been dealing with stubborn heel pain, elbow pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, or another nagging injury that just won't go away, this may be another tool we can use to help.
