Making the most of a rainy day... We enjoyed word games that brought out our competitive sides and stretched our brains this morning.

This afternoon we tried our hands, luck and patience at washcloth origami. Our roses, bunnies, and ducks turned out so cute...the swans chose not to cooperate. As always, laughter ensued.

Yesterday we had our Bible study time with Chaplain Jeff. One of the many things we love about him is his sense of humor ๐Ÿ˜†I think a picture speaks a thousand words. And check out the cute couple that thought they were hiding in the back. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Monday Bingo as usual and several happy shoppers at our store.

As promised, tickets were collected and doughnuts were delivered. So fun to see something so simple brighten the start to their day. (Several other participants not pictured). With some extra time, I decided to take a few of my โ€œfavoriteโ€ guys to sit and enjoy some time outside to visit. Not sure whose morning was more blessed, but it definitely was a great way to start the day. โค๏ธ

It's Friday!! Grateful for the much needed rain, and glad we were able to get as much outside time this week as we have. Including yesterday when we played balloon volleyball under the gazebo. Definitely a little trickier with the breeze that gave the balloons a mind of their own, but worth all the effort and many laughs.

Yesterday morning we molded, painted and added scent to our handmade clay diffusers. This was a fun project for almost all of the senses.

This morning our focus animal for the month was the Manta Ray. We had a smaller group but enjoyed the time learning more about such a beautiful, magnificent and endangered species together. I think the most shocking was when we took out a tape measure to see what 23 feet looked like after reading, they can span from one side to the other, that long. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We also were surprised when looking up photos of baby manta rays. (You definitely should look them up, you wonโ€™t be disappointed)

This afternoon Bingo with Jackie was its normal big hit. Residents also placed an order for doughnuts tomorrow using their activity coupons...and my soft heart to deliver fresh. ๐Ÿ˜†

(Time was spent this afternoon sprucing up our walls with uplifting decor, and reminders of God's comforting and encouraging word...more to come)

Mid-week Stretch.... and already tired ๐Ÿ˜„ ...in a good way.

This past weekend we had a dear friend and past resident stop in and visit.

Monday morning our God Cares Bible study was good reminder of God's love, His blessed grace and forgiveness.
Monday afternoon Bingo was well attended and lots of activity tickets handed out and a little shopping done at the ticket store.

Tuesday morning the Catholic Communion service with Deacon Tom was welcomed.
Tuesday Afternoon we were blessed with special music by Ms. Jean. We love when she comes! She loves to share her gifts, talents, love of Jesus and her heart with our residents. She played for a group as well as for a couple individuals who were excited to sing along from their comfortable positions.

We were also greatly blessed on Tuesday by our local Coopersville Future Farmers of America who donated beautiful flower baskets and planters for all of our residents to enjoy. Huge thanks to them!!

This morning our church service let by Pastor Bob VanManen offered mid-week encouragement for our souls and blessed fellowship.
Wednesday afternoon Bingo with Carol was a normal favorite, and a couple elves set up a flower box planter outside of a resident's window per her previous request.

We continue to enjoy one on one time outside with residents when weather and their enjoyment permits. Our shaded gazebo, soon to be shaded patio, and new seating options offer us great opportunities to enjoy the fresh air and fellowship.

Welcome to Friday!
Pictures were scarce this week, but we have enjoyed many of our favorite activities, a couple new activities, and some extra one-on-one visits.

Tuesday we were blessed with our Catholic communion service with Deacon Tom in the morning, and we held our resident council meeting outside in the gazebo in the afternoon taking full advantage of the perfect weather.

Wednesday Pastor Rick LeFebre led our church service, and we had our typical full crowd for afternoon bingo.

Thursday, we started our morning with chair yoga exercise and made up for our burned calories by baking and enjoying Mint Julep cookies in the afternoon.

Friday morning Jeopardy proved to exercise our brain, afternoon Bingo was a full house, and we are currently awaiting tonight's Friday Night Movie: Ruth and Boaz (a modern day take on the biblical story).

We had some of our regular family and friends stop by throughout the week to bless us and unrelated, our puzzle library and book library got a much-needed reorganization and rotation.

Whew! Is it really Friday already? The ending to our week has been busy and fun, making the time fly!

Wednesday's outing to the theater was enjoyed as usual. We received a generous donation of a few movie passes form GQT Grand Haven 9 Theater. The ladies love taking a drive past the lake as well as wondering back roads on our way home. We've enjoyed car ride conversations, reminiscing, laughter and getting to know each other better through these simple shared moments.

Thursday morning started with an intense competition of a Connect 4 tournament. We got in our stretches, warmed up our brains, and still ended up friends with a shared tie to end the time. ๐Ÿ˜†

Thursday afternoon we had a blast with cardio drumming! What a great way to sneak in some exercise, enjoy some classic tunes, and just have fun with friends. We even caught our maintenance director trying his hand at keeping the beat. (Photo Credit: Vickie Dines Nickel)

Friday morning, we enjoyed our Travelog on Guatemala. One of our residents sharing about missionary work her grandson does there. We tried dried plantain chips, sweetened plantain chips, and freeze-dried chocolate dipped plantains (I'll bet you can guess their favorite). We had an interesting discussion after, on places we have traveled, places we've wanted to travel to, and places we would rather hear about other's travels to.

This afternoon Bingo was a full crowd with our faithful Friday Bingo caller, Jackie. We are blessed to have her now for several years.

Pray you all have a blessed weekend and a respectfully peaceful Memorial Day. God Bless!

Welcome to Wednesday!
Our morning service lead by Pastor Peter Hill from Ottawa Center Chaple, was a great reminder of God's faithfulness always and in and through all seasons of life. Our faithful and committed pianist Sandy Anderson blessed our worship time as well.

Yesterday our Catholic Communion service was led by Deacon Tom, a weekly blessing.
Our afternoon held a fun Tic Tac Roll dice game (made more fun when using candy as our place markers), and a diversion from our scheduled activity to instead enjoy the fresh air and warm weather. We enjoyed time sitting and reminiscing as well as taking in the sights, sounds and even smells of the season. Checked on our plants and planters and are excited to see our veggie and fruit plants growing. A short walk with a stop and look from a bird's eye view was another simple moment we took time to enjoy.

Monday morning our residents were encouraged by our Bible Study message of having hope even when things seem hopeless and trusting God's timing, eternal perspective and perfect love.

Last Friday Nights movie, Falling Inn Love, was a fun way to relax and enjoy the end of our past week.

This afternoon, another round of the favorited Bingo called by Ms. Carol while two residents cash in their Activity Tickets to venture out and catch another movie. We are excited that GQT Grand Haven 9 Theater generously donated a few tickets after recognizing our familiar faces and being told how much we enjoy visiting their theater for our movie outings.

May you have a blessed remainder of your week! Thanks for following our activities and adventures. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Happy Friday!
Just for a change of pace, we are going to do our update in reverse ;)

This morning we had a good turn out to play Wheel of Fortune. Although not playing for real money, residents seemed content to earn a few extra Activity Tickets (formerly known as Bingo Tickets), as a well a sweet treat.

Yesterday afternoon we took advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed a fun game of sit and kick ball out back under our gazebo. Great range of motion exercise and as always, laughter that is good for the soul.

Thursday morning, we played with our veggies....(shhhhhhh don't tell mom. ๐Ÿ˜‚) Well, actually we painted with vegetables, and it is always surprising to see what artists we have in our midst as well as the vast variety of creativity with even the simplest of materials at hand.

Wednesday evening a couple residents turned in their Activity Tickets to spend the afternoon/evening at the theater, complete with a drive past the Grand Haven Lake shore and back road home (at no extra Ticket cost๐Ÿ˜‰).

Our Wednesday afternoon Bingo was a hit and full crowd as expected. Thank you Carol for your years of Bingo calling commitment. We appreciate you!!!

Middle of the week stretch...and recap.

Monday, we enjoyed our Bible time with Chaplain Jeff and even had a couple newcomers join us. Our afternoon was filled with Bingo, and some outside visits to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Tuesday we were blessed with Deacon Tom who offered our Catholic communion service in the morning. Our afternoon was filled with turtles. Not the teenage mutant ninja kind...but the candy kind lol. We learned the history of turtle candy and tried our hand at making our own batch to share. While waiting for our candy to set we learned about the animal: tortoise.

This morning Pastor Lloyd Hemstreet offered our sermon on Mark 9:14-29 and reminded us of the importance of faith and prayer. We are so appreciative of our loyal weekly pianist Sandy Anderson, as well as ALL of our community spiritual leaders who offer their time and talents to minister to the residents here at Fountain View Assisted Living.
This afternoon we are looking forward to Bingo with our faithful volunteer Carol.

Looking forward to a fun remainder of our week and hoping you continue to enjoy vicariously.
Blessings!
