Join Bay Area First Step for a free workshop designed specifically for Peer Support Specialists and Peer Professionals.

Practical Peer Support

Workshop Details:

Date: May 27, 2026

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: Virtual via Zoom

Credits: 2 Hours of CEU's (MHACBO Approved)

What to Expect: This session's objective is designed for peer workers to master neutrality by presenting unbiased MOUD options. You will learn to balance your lived experience with self-

determination, and practice "Being Wrong With Them"—walking alongside someone regardless of their path.

To build a strong foundation, we will cover the clinical pillars of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). You will also learn to navigate syndemic challenges and social stigma, and understand the vital role of peer support.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Carolyn Billman.

Carolyn was a long-time board member and staff member at Bay Area First Step whose dedication, compassion, and belief in recovery touched countless lives. She gave so much of herself to this organization and to the people we serve. Carolyn truly helped many and loved all.

Her legacy lives on through the individuals, families, and community she supported so faithfully over the years. She will be deeply missed by all of us at Bay Area First Step.

We hold Carolyn’s family, friends, and loved ones in our thoughts during this difficult time.
