🏃 Movement can be a powerful tool for regulation.

Activities like jumping, climbing, swinging, dancing, walking, or obstacle courses help support:
✨ body awareness
✨ coordination
✨ attention
✨ emotional regulation
✨ sensory processing

And the best part? Movement doesn’t need to feel like “exercise” to be beneficial.
Play counts too 💚

Preparing ahead of time can help support smoother transitions and reduce stress for everyone.

Helpful strategies may include:
✔ visual schedules or previews

Remember: successful travel does not have to look perfect. Small adjustments and preparation can make a big difference.

Looking for simple sensory-friendly summer activities? ☀️

Try:
🌊 water play with cups or sponges
🫧 bubbles outside
🖍 sidewalk chalk
🌿 nature walks
🎵 music + movement games
🧊 ice play on hot days

Sensory play helps children explore their environment while supporting regulation, motor development, and engagement through play. The best part? Many sensory activities can be created using items you already have at home 💚

☀️ Summer can bring excitement — but it can also bring pressure.
Pressure to:
• keep kids constantly entertained
• create “perfect” summer memories
• maintain routines
• juggle work, childcare, and activities

If summer feels overwhelming sometimes, you are not alone.

Children do not need perfection. What supports them most is feeling safe, connected, and supported by caring adults.

It’s okay to slow down.
It’s okay to rest.
And it’s okay if every day isn’t “Pinterest perfect” 💚

💬 Summer routines are full of natural opportunities to support communication.

Children learn language best through repeated, meaningful interactions during everyday activities — not just during structured learning time.

Using short, simple phrases during play, meals, transitions, and outdoor activities helps build understanding and supports independent communication over time.

Try:
✔ modeling 1–3 word phrases
✔ repeating key words often
✔ following your child’s interests
✔ keeping language simple and functional

Small moments add up 💚

☀️ Play is more than just fun — it’s how children learn best.

Simple summer activities like sidewalk chalk, water play, scavenger hunts, and bubbles can help support:
✨ language development
✨ motor skills
✨ problem-solving
✨ sensory exploration
✨ social connection

Children learn through everyday experiences, especially when adults join in with simple language, curiosity, and encouragement.

You don’t need elaborate activities to support development this summer 💚
Small moments of connection and play matter most.

💬 Communication learning happens all day long — not just during therapy sessions.

Everyday routines give children repeated opportunities to hear, understand, and practice language in meaningful ways. Research shows that children learn language best through consistent, responsive interactions with the people they spend the most time with.

That means small moments throughout the day can have a big impact 💚
Try modeling simple, functional words during routines you’re already doing:
🍎 Snack time: “more,” “eat,” “all done”
👟 Getting ready: “shoes on,” “coat,” “go”
🚗 Transitions: “let’s go,” “bye,” “car”

Using short, clear phrases helps reduce language overload while giving children repeated exposure to words connected to real experiences. Repetition and consistency support understanding, confidence, and eventually more independent communication.

You don’t need to turn every moment into a lesson.
Simple language, repeated often in everyday routines, is powerful ✨

💚 Caregiver self-care doesn’t have to be complicated.
And it doesn’t need to take hours out of your day.

Sometimes self-care looks like:
✨ stepping outside for a breath of fresh air
✨ stretching for 5 minutes between tasks
✨ moving your body alongside your child

These small, intentional moments can help regulate your nervous system, boost your mood, and restore your energy throughout the day.

You don’t need to “do more.”
You just need moments that support you, too. 💚

Communication doesn’t start with words—it starts with connection.

Before children use language, they learn through shared moments, gestures, and interactions with others. By slowing down, following your child’s lead, and responding to their attempts to communicate, you are helping build the foundation for speech and language development. These small, consistent interactions throughout the day can have a big impact over time 💬
