Coppell Pediatrics

Coppell Pediatrics "Come, Grow with us!" Our goal is to offer your child the highest standard of pediatric care. Do not assume that everyone knows everything they need to.

The practice of medicine is constantly changing, and the cornerstone of good medical care is mutual understanding, respect and trust between physician, patient and parent. We’re committed to your child’s health and helping your child stay that way, but you’re a key player in making that happen. Here are suggestions from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality that all patients should follow

:

Speak up if you have questions or concerns. You have a right to question anyone who is involved with your child’s care. Make sure that someone such as your primary care doctor is in charge of your child’s care. This is especially important if your child has many health problems or is in the hospital. Make sure that all health professionals involved in your child’s care have important health information about him/her. If you child has a test, don’t assume that no news is good news. Ask about the results. Learn about your child’s condition and treatments by asking your doctor. The physician-parent-patient relationships are unique, confidential and sacred, and we strive to uphold this commitment.

💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Book the visit before school schedules take over.
• Write down anything you've noticed, even small things.
• Ask your provider what this visit covers for your child's age.

(Back-to-school health preparation → Annual wellness visit in Texas)

August is one week away. Here is everything to check before Day One.
💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Check vaccine records by calling us directly or requesting through Texas ImmTrac2 at dshs.texas.gov/immunizations or 800-348-9158. Texas requires all vaccines completed by the first day of school, with only a 30-day catch-up window after that.
• Book the annual wellness visit if it has not happened yet. Bring school forms, sports clearance forms, and medication forms. Your provider signs everything in one visit.
• Note any changes in your child's mood, sleep, focus, or behavior and bring them up. Annual wellness visits now include mental health screenings too.

At 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, we help Texas families check every box before the school year starts. One visit. Everything handled.

July feels late. August feels even later. And suddenly it feels like the window has closed.

Here is the reality for Texas parents.
MYTH (Common Parent Mistake): "It is too late in the summer to get vaccines done before school starts."
FACT: July is exactly the time to act. Texas requires all vaccines completed by the first day of attendance. Provisional enrollment gives families only 30 days to catch up on the next required dose. After that window closes, schools must exclude your child. July is not too late. But August is cutting it dangerously close.

💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Book this week. July appointments in [City, TX] are still available.
• If your child needs a series, starting now gives the best chance to finish before school begins.
• Single-dose vaccines can be done in one quick visit with no waiting period needed.

At 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, we check records, close any gaps, and get your child protected before Day One.

👉 Follow us for vaccine guidance that helps Texas parents act with confidence, not panic.

Did you know Texas has a free statewide immunization registry called ImmTrac2 where your child's vaccine history may be stored?

Here is what most Texas parents miss: ImmTrac2 requires parent consent to store your child's records. If you never signed the consent form at the clinic or at birth registration, the records may not be in the system even if all vaccines were given.

💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Request records by completing the Authorization to Release ImmTrac2 History form at dshs.texas.gov/immunizations and email it to [email protected]. Or call 800-348-9158 for help.
• Not sure if consent was given? Call us directly. We have your child's records on file and can prepare all required school documentation at their wellness visit.
• You can also visit your local health department to request records in person.

At 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, we make getting school-ready simple. One call, one visit, everything handled.

(Missed childhood vaccines → Catch-up immunization visit in Texas Clinics)

Good news first: you do not have to start over.
According to the CDC, if your child missed vaccines or fell behind, the series does not need to be restarted. Your pediatrician simply picks up where things left off and creates a catch-up plan that works for your child.

July is still a good window to get this done before school starts.
💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Check your child's records now. You may be closer to current than you think.
• Call us to schedule a catch-up visit. We review what is missing and make a simple, clear plan.
• Do not wait for the school nurse to flag it. Getting ahead now avoids enrollment delays in August.
At 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, we create personalized catch-up schedules built around your child's specific history. No judgment. Just a clear next step.

Most parents leave the checkup saying "Everything looks great!" Then remember three questions on the drive home.
Write these down before you go.

💡 Here's what parents can do:
• Ask: "Is my child's growth and development on track for their age?" Pediatricians track this over time. Ask for the honest answer.
• Ask: "Are there vaccines or boosters my child still needs before school?" Catch anything missing before enrollment deadlines close.
• Ask: "Is there anything from today's screening I should watch for at home?" Turn the visit into a guide, not just a checkup.

At 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, we take time to answer every question you bring. You should walk out informed, not just reassured.
