Elder abuse is often invisible.

It can look like financial exploitation, neglect, emotional manipulation, or physical harm. And it frequently happens at the hands of someone the person trusts.

If you're worried about a parent or older loved one, here are some signs: sudden changes in finances, unexplained bruises, isolation from family, fear around a caregiver, or depression after a major life change.

You don't have to be certain to reach out. If something feels wrong, it probably is.

At Palm Medical Centers, we see our patients regularly. We notice changes. We ask questions. And we're mandated reporters—we take abuse seriously.

If you're concerned about an older adult, contact Adult Protective Services, call the Eldercare Locator at 1-800-677-1116, or reach out to us.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. And every donation — yours — can save up to three lives.

Today is World Blood Donor Day, and we want to take a moment to thank everyone who donates. It's one of the most quietly powerful things a person can do.

If you've been meaning to give, there's no better day than today. Find a donation center near you through OneBlood — Florida's largest blood center.

Find a location: oneblood.org

And while you're thinking about your blood health, when did you last have your labs checked? Your Palm Medical Centers team can help with that, too.

PTSD isn't always what it looks like in the movies.

It can show up after a car accident, a medical event, a loss, or years of stress that finally caught up with you. It can look like trouble sleeping, feeling on edge, avoiding certain places or people, or just not feeling like yourself anymore.

June is PTSD Awareness Month — and we want you to know that if any of that sounds familiar, you're not alone and you don't have to figure it out by yourself.

Your primary care provider is a safe place to start that conversation. We can listen, refer you to the right support, and walk alongside you — whatever that looks like.

Here's something most Medicare patients don't know: you have a completely free health visit available to you every single year. No copay. No deductible. Nothing.

It's called the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit — and it's one of the most underused benefits in healthcare.

This isn't a physical exam. It's a health planning session. Your Palm Medical Centers physician reviews your medications, screens for early cognitive changes, assesses your risk for chronic conditions, and builds a personalized prevention plan around your specific health history.

Why does that matter? Because after 65, the conditions that cause the most serious harm — high blood pressure, rising blood sugar, high cholesterol — don't announce themselves. They build quietly. Your annual wellness visit is how we catch them before they become emergencies.

What to expect:
✔ Health risk assessment
✔ Full medication review
✔ Cognitive and depression screening
✔ Vital measurements
✔ Personalized prevention plan

The first visit is also a chance to get to know your doctor — 30 to 45 minutes of real conversation about your health, your concerns, and what to watch for going forward. That relationship is what makes every visit after it more effective.

If you haven't scheduled your wellness visit this year, you're leaving a free benefit on the table.

The first person you see when you walk into your appointment is often a Certified Nursing Assistant.

They check your blood pressure, ask about your day, remember your name, and make sure you're comfortable. And then the doctor comes in.

Here's the thing: great patient care requires great teamwork. Your CNA handles the vital work that keeps your appointment running smoothly—the care, the attention, the continuity. Your provider makes the clinical decisions that treat your health. Both matter. Both are essential.

This week is CNA Appreciation Week, and we want to say: thank you to the CNAs at Palm Medical Centers who show up every day with genuine care for our patients. You make excellent healthcare possible.

If you have a favorite CNA, comment below and thank them. They deserve it.

If you're a caregiver for an older adult, this is hard work. Really hard.

And if you're struggling—whether it's managing medications, handling finances, dealing with behavioral changes, or just the emotional weight of it all—you're not alone.

There are resources: support groups, respite care, counseling, and financial planning. Things that make this job less isolating.

At Palm Medical Centers, we see caregivers. We know you're doing your best. And we want to help you take care of yourself while you're taking care of someone else.

You notice your parent is repeating the same story. Again. And you're not sure if it's normal aging or something more.

Here's what to watch for: forgetting recent conversations (but remembering old ones), getting lost in familiar places, trouble managing finances or medications, or personality changes.

Normal aging = occasional forgetfulness. Dementia = patterns of memory loss that affect daily life.

If you're noticing changes, don't wait. Early detection matters. Treatments, strategies, and support plans work better when you catch things early.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. It's a good time to talk to your doctor about memory concerns, get a cognitive screening, and learn about resources for caregivers.

You're not overreacting. You're being proactive.

Today we honor the cancer survivors in our Palm community.

Whether you're three months past treatment, three years, or decades—you've shown remarkable strength. And we're here to support you through every phase: the fear, the hope, the relief, and everything after.

If you're a survivor navigating follow-up care, managing side effects, or just trying to live normally again—your Palm team is here. We listen to your whole story, not just the diagnosis.

To the fighters, the survivors, the caregivers: we see you today. We see you every day.

Cancer survivors deserve comprehensive care. Let's make sure you're getting it.

You're turning 65, and Medicare is suddenly everywhere. Letters, ads, phone calls. Everyone has an opinion. But what actually matters?

There are two paths: Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. And the difference between them isn't just about cost — it's about how your care gets coordinated, who's managing your health, and what happens when things get complicated.

Here's the short version:

Original Medicare is federal coverage. See any doctor who accepts it, no network restrictions. But there's no out-of-pocket maximum, no dental or vision, and no prescription coverage built in. You're responsible for piecing together the rest.

Medicare Advantage is delivered through private insurers approved by Medicare. Most plans bundle in prescriptions, dental, vision, and an annual out-of-pocket maximum. And critically — your primary care doctor is built into a coordinated care model designed to keep you healthy and catch problems early.

At Palm Medical Centers, we work within Medicare Advantage plans every day. Our doctors don't just treat what you come in with — they coordinate with specialists, communicate with hospital teams, and stay involved in your care even when you're not in our office.

That's the difference between a plan and a team.

Want to understand which option is right for you? Our outreach team can walk you through it.

The men in your life are probably avoiding the doctor.

Here's what we see: men put off checkups, skip screenings, and don't talk about health concerns until something becomes an emergency. And then they're surprised when treatment is more complicated.

June is Men's Health Month, and it's a good time to remind the men you care about: you can't take care of your family if you're not taking care of yourself.

Heart disease, diabetes, prostate health—these aren't things to ignore. There are things to monitor, manage, and prevent.

If you're a man, book your annual checkup. If you know a man who's been putting it off, send this their way.
