Sometimes we feel like we need to constantly entertain or talk with children but if we are just quiet for bit magic will occur. I just listen to a podcast by and it was a good reminder of what my supervisor had mentioned during graduate school. Engagement and play looks different for everyone. A person can be fully engaged and connecting without looking at you. Our energy is contagious and if the child is not feeling the same energy as us, we can disregulate them and impact their play. By just observing and being silent a lot can occur.

When your silent and slow down productivity can occur. You are able to:
❤️Understand the child better.
❤️Connect and regulate
❤️Allow the child to be create and LEAD
❤️Hear what they have learn in previous experiences

🧠TAKE AWAY
➡️PLAY should be natural.
➡️It is not a performance.
➡️It’s about building a connection with the child.

Next time you are playing with a child just stay silent. It may be hard but count 15 second at least before saying something. See the MAGIC OCCUR ✨✨

My business partner and I will be hosting our first community event on February 24,2025. We are both licensed bilingual speech therapists (Spanish and Portuguese) with years of experience. Traveling with kids can be difficult but after traveling with my baby since he was was 2 month old with drives of 12 hours and flights of 16+ hours, I think I have found some tricks. Here are some quick tips on activities to do with children during trips to limit hours of screen time and boredom. I take advantage of this time to teach my child a new skill or practice a skill. ✂️Fine motor: can also include stickers, small fine motor toys 🧸 ( I have some quick grab and go toys I use every trip). 🗣️Comment: comment with your child on cars or items you see on the road. Discuss the color, size, length, or type of car (for example: that’s a cement truck for construction 🚧). Make even more fun by playing “I spy”. 🎶 Sing: this is the time to sing new and old songs. I love making up songs and showing him the letters that I take in a bag. I try to create songs with experiences that are related to him. Hello everyone! Finally back on My profesional IG page as I took a year break while baking this little human inside. He is 3 months now! How time flies. I have been doing daily activities to stimulate his development. Doing tummy time with some fall theme activities. Exposing your little ones to literacy at an early age is essential of vocabulary growth. The benefits of tummy time include stimulation and development of: tactile senses, gross motor skills, digestive system, vestibule sense, proprioception, and eye/hand coordination.
