Honored to have had the opportunity to speak at the Annual Baptist Health Spine Symposium at Boca Regional Hospital. My discussion focused on intrathecal pump management and the evolving role of targeted pain therapies in improving patient care. Grateful to collaborate with such an outstanding group of physicians and healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing spine and pain medicine.

Thank you to everyone involved for an excellent event and discussion.

Years of tailbone pain… finally relieved.

This patient suffered from severe coccydynia for years and could barely sit comfortably. We tried everything first — physical therapy, medications, injections, and even radiofrequency ablation — but nothing provided lasting relief.

A ganglion impar block briefly worked, which told us we were targeting the right pain pathway. So I tried something different: a peripheral nerve stimulator trial using a novel lateral approach designed to avoid the higher infection risk of the few if any cases described in the literature.

The result? Significant pain improvement and the ability to sit and stand comfortably again.

We are now planning the permanent implant.

This technique has not yet been described in the literature, and we are planning to present it at a medical conference in the near future — stay tuned.

That sharp outer hip or shoulder pain isn’t always a “pinched nerve.”
Sometimes it’s bursitis — inflammation of a tiny cushion that helps your joints glide smoothly.

The good news?
When diagnosed correctly, relief is often much simpler than patients expect.

Pain has a cause. Precision matters. 🎯

90% pain relief in a patient with chronic shoulder pain using Curonix peripheral nerve stimulation.

Not a surgical candidate. Failed radiofrequency ablation.
15-minute procedure. Local anesthesia.
Life-changing outcome.

One incision. Less pain. Faster recovery.
Dr. Ozatkay performed a single-incision spinal cord stimulator (SCS) implant — a technique that’s typically done with two incisions. By minimizing tissue disruption, patients experience less scarring, reduced pain, and a quicker return to normal activity.

Our patient is already doing great and reporting excellent outcomes with their new stimulator 💪

If you’re living with chronic back pain, leg pain, or neuropathic pain, ask your physician about minimally invasive spinal stimulation and whether a single-incision approach could be right for you.

We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Marc Cohen, DSOA 2003 Music Alumnus! 🎶✨

Dr. Cohen is dually boarded in anesthesiology and interventional pain management. After completing his anesthesia residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his fellowship at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, he has gone on to publish in respected journals and present at national conferences.

A passionate advocate for his community, Dr. Cohen partners with the state of Florida to promote safe prescribing practices. His mission is focused on helping patients avoid surgery and restoring function through advanced, minimally invasive treatments such as spinal cord stimulation, peripheral stimulation, radiofrequency, kyphoplasty, and more.
