***PUBLIC ALERT***
We have received confirmation from the PA Game Commission of a stray cat in Ruffsdale that tested positive for rabies on 6/25/26. This cat did bite a dog and a human, who are both currently receiving treatment.

We would like to remind our clients and our community that rabies is a very real and present threat in our area, and urge you to update all your pets' and livestock's rabies vaccines ASAP.

Pennsylvania law requires all dogs and cats over 12 weeks of age to be current on their rabies vaccines. This includes barn cats, and stray cats that you may be feeding. Please check your paperwork for up-to-date rabies certificates to keep yourself legal. Remember, rabies can be spread to humans, and is fatal if contracted.

The more local animals that are vaccinated, the less the rabies virus will be able to spread in our community. Keep yourselves and our community safe!

‼️ "You may not need tick control 365 days per year, but you need tick control 12 months per year." ‼️

We've still been seeing dogs with ticks and even still some indoor kitties with fleas. Make sure your pets are up to date on their preventatives.

Due to winter storm Fern and for the safety of our staff, Moon Veterinay Hospital will be closed on Monday January 26th. We anticipate going back to normal hours on Tuesday January 27th.

Mental health is health.

Say it until it is understood.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s commit to making veterinary medicine a place where people can thrive, not just survive.
