Metabolic syndrome is more than a number on the scale. 🌳
Think of it like a tree: what we see above ground—weight gain, high blood pressure, elevated triglycerides, low HDL, prediabetes, fatty liver, PCOS and even Type 2 diabetes—can all be connected to what’s happening beneath the surface.
At the “roots” is often insulin resistance, where the body isn’t responding to insulin as effectively as it should. Over time, insulin levels may remain elevated as the body works harder to keep blood sugar controlled.
And an important reminder: obesity does not cause metabolic syndrome by itself. Abdominal obesity is one of several features used to identify metabolic syndrome, and metabolic health is much more complex than simply “lose weight.”
The goal isn’t just to keep watering the branches by treating one symptom at a time. It’s also to look deeper, identify contributing factors, and build a plan that supports better metabolic health from the roots up. 🌱
If you’re dealing with stubborn weight changes, abnormal blood sugar, high blood pressure, cholesterol concerns, PCOS or other signs that something may be going on metabolically, it may be time to start the conversation with your healthcare provider. That’s why we’re here to help you!
