Mary Smith Live Chaos Free

Mary Smith Live Chaos Free aka Chaos Free ADHD. Speaker & ADHD Coach helping families raise motivated, independent kids with ADHD. Distraction and impulsivity seemed to rule me.

I share practical, brain-based strategies for executive function, behavior, and motivation—without relying on rewards or punishment. Growing Up

I grew up with ADHD so, I know what it's like to live in constant disorganization and failure to achieve my potential. I always thought I could do better, I just couldn't will myself to get it done. Eventually, I came to believe its was some sort of chara

cter flaw that kept me from performing my best at anything. Knowing is Half the Battle

Being diagnosed with ADHD at age 35 was both a spiritual and intellectual awakening. I realized I wasn't stupid, my brain is just works differently. Physically, chemically, operationally, I am different from ~95% of the population. And the good news was, I could use that knowledge to learn organization skills, improve my focus and concentration, and soften my social interactions all in a way that made sense to me and my ADHD brain. Why I Coach

I want to work with "kids like me". I want them to know there is an adult who understands thems and what they are going through. I want to be a voice reminding them of their strengths, because they do have them, and helping them reach their personal goals - to not just feel successful but BE successful..

They didn't cover this in coach training: the child who won't start, the parent who calls it defiance, and the label you almost take at face value.

Initiation, motivation, and demand avoidance look nearly identical from the outside, and naming the wrong one keeps a family stuck in conflict and shame. ""Initiation, Motivation, and Demand Avoidance: The Mistakes Parents (and Coaches) Make with Neurodivergent Children"" is about the part of a child's behavior that a single label doesn't reach.

Big shout out to Daniella Karidi, PhD. and her podcast ADHDtime. Finally a podcast that asks experts to bring the science behind addressing the real-world challenges of ADHD.

I was happy to contribute the science behind why rewards and punishment only add to the dysfunction instead of building the skills needed to thrive.

🎙️ New Episode of ADHDtime on Air!

What if one of the most common parenting strategies for ADHD is also one of the least effective for building lasting skills?

In Episode 17 of ADHDtime on Air, I sit down with fellow ADHD coach Mary Smith to discuss why rewards and punishments may not be the best approach for supporting children with ADHD.

Instead, we explore what it looks like to focus on skill development, internal motivation, emotional regulation, and realistic expectations, while also supporting parents through the challenges of burnout.

In this episode, we discuss:
• Why ADHD is a developmental disorder rather than simply a behavior problem
• Why rewards and punishments often backfire
• Building skills instead of chasing compliance
• Practical strategies for reducing parent burnout
• Creating a supportive home environment where children can thrive

Whether you're a parent, educator, coach, or clinician, I hope you'll find practical ideas that you can apply right away.

I met Tamara Rosier years ago at an ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO) conference in Phoenix years ago. We instantly clicked on so many levels - personally, philosophically. It was like meeting my sister from another mister!

It has been a joy to watch her grow into the force for good she is today!

Imagine how proud I was when she said "yes" to our request for her to kick-off the ADDvance Conference in October.

Come listen to her speak @10:00 am ET on October 1, 2026.

Registration is open https://addvanceconference.com/event/registration/

My work has been growing in a really meaningful way, and I’m excited to start sharing it through more through speaking—and with a brand that better reflects the mission behind it.

I’m still coaching families every day, helping parents move from daily struggles to calmer, more connected relationships where kids can build real skills and independence.

If you know a school, group, or organization that could use a fresh perspective on motivation and ADHD, I’d love to be connected 💛
