Hey there! 👋🏾

I made a FREE guide called “6 Things I Wish Every Mom Knew Before Breastfeeding” for expecting moms who are planning to breastfeed. It's short, practical, and covers some of the things I wish every mom could know before baby arrives.

Here’s the link to get your free copy!

https://www.perinatalwellness-support.com/product-page/6-things-i-wish-every-mom-knew-before-breastfeeding

If you want to feel really prepared, I offer breastfeeding classes designed to talk in depth about the things you actually want to know before baby arrives including:

🤱🏾The importance of breastfeeding
🤱🏻Latching
🤱🏽Colostrum & milk transition
🤱🏼How often newborns feed
🤱🏿Signs baby is getting enough
🤱🏾Pumping & bottle introduction
🤱🏻Common breastfeeding challenges
🤱🏽When something is normal vs. when to get help
🤱🏼Pumping & returning to work
🤱🏿How partners can support breastfeeding
And SO MUCH MORE!

I designed this class to reflect what I wish I would have gotten when I started my breastfeeding journey.

If you're a Charlotte mom-to-be planning to breastfeed, I'd love to have you in class.

It’s Black Breastfeeding Week! 🫶🏾

As a Black breastfeeding mother and a Black IBCLC, this week is always near and dear to me.

This year I want to take a moment to highlight the support that has made my breastfeeding journey possible with my two baby girls. My husband, my family, friends, and the lactation support make this journey so much easier. I’m also deeply grateful for the education and mentorship that helped me grow into a lactation consultant, so I can now pour back into other Black moms on their own journeys.

My goal going forward is simple: keep showing up for Black moms. That means educating, spreading awareness, advocating for breastfeeding rights in the workplace, normalizing breastfeeding wherever I can, and helping moms work through the challenges that come up along the way.

Here’s to Black Breastfeeding Week 2026 and to every Black mom nursing, pumping, and showing up for her baby.🤱🏾

I did what I was “supposed” to do. I took a breastfeeding class before my first daughter arrived. I thought I was prepared, but that was far from the truth. the class didn’t prepare me for the real challenges I ran into, or give me the tools to work through them. I was left figuring so much out on my own, in the moments I needed support the most.

That experience changed how I show up for the families I work with now. I built my own class because I know firsthand what it feels like when the preparation you were given isn’t enough. I’ve made it my mission to do better for the parents I teach.

That’s exactly why Breastfeeding Beginnings exists. My next class starts Sept 2nd. Registration link is in bio.

It’s World Breastfeeding Week!

This year’s theme is: “Breastfeeding for a sustainable start in life: strengthen what works.”

We already know what works. Skin-to-skin in the first hours. Skilled lactation support in those first fragile days. Workplaces that protect time and space to pump. Partners and family who show up informed instead of anxious, to name a few.

The science has been clear for years. Let’s continue to spread the knowledge about breastfeeding and continuing to make efforts to support families in their breastfeeding journey.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week 💙

Can we talk about hunger for a moment? I was having a random convo with my sister about how intense pregnancy and breastfeeding hunger can be and which one seems to be the most intense.

Here’s my personal experience with both:

Pregnancy hunger seems more intense and urgent when it comes on. It would hit me like a freight train! My window of time before I turned hangry was very short. It was the “I need food NOW” type of hunger and I craved things I hadn’t eaten in YEARS (McDonald’s) 😅

Breastfeeding hunger for me seems like it never quite goes away. I’m not ravishing but I’m always a little hungry or snacky, and it feels more intense during this middle of the night feeds! I may or may not have a snack stash and a stocked mini fridge in the bedroom 😆🤭

So which one hit the most for you? Pregnancy hunger, breastfeeding hunger both equally, or did you somehow manage to keep a normal appetite?

Officially 6 months postpartum with baby #2 and I must say, this has been a very different experience(in a good way). I keep thinking about how different this whole experience has been compared to the first time, and decided to really reflect on what has made such a difference this time around. I believe that it might help someone else who’s preparing to welcome a little one.

With my first, I experienced quite a bit of anxiety. Every baby cry felt like an emergency, the thoughts spiraled out of control, and I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect and to have it all figured out. Breastfeeding was a struggle in the beginning and was overwhelming. On top of all that, I did not set boundaries around my space or my capacity. I said yes to visitors too soon, and I didn’t really let myself express what I actually needed postpartum. I just powered through.

This time around I’ve found a healthy balance of giving myself time and grace to figure things out, and not waiting until I’m drowning to ask for help. I set boundaries around visitors and my own space without guilt, and I voice what I need instead of expecting others to be a mind reader.

I broke down everything I did differently this round in a blog post as it relates to recovery, breastfeeding, mental health, boundaries, the mental load, all of it. If you’re pregnant, or in the trenches of postpartum right now, I think you’ll find something in there for you.

We pour so much into our little ones. Encouragement, patience, love, reassurance, the list goes on. Sometimes along the way, we forget to pour back into ourselves.

These are the words we say to our kids without a second thought. But when’s the last time you said them to YOURSELF?

Friendly reminder that you need this just as much as they do 💙
