There are some moments in this work that stay with you forever, especially as a Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep photographer.

Recently, I had the profound honor of being invited into a space of unimaginable grief - to gently document the postpartum time after a family experienced the stillbirth of their beautiful baby girl, Chloe. Being trusted in such a sacred, tender moment is something I will never take lightly. Their love for their child and sibling was fierce, deep, and unmistakable in every moment I witnessed.

My heart is absolutely broken for this family. No parent should ever have to say goodbye before they’ve even had the chance to say hello.

If you feel moved to support them during this incredibly painful time, a GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden while they focus on grieving, healing, and honoring their baby Chloe’s short and impactful life.

Every share, prayer, and donation means more than words can express.

Thank you for helping surround this family with love during the darkest of days. 🤍

To my massage therapist, Meaghan…my unofficial body doula 🤍

I don’t know what kind of love lives in your hands, but I’m convinced it’s ancestral, sacred, and possibly superhero-level, honestly.

For years, you have held space for my body the same way I hold space for birthing women…patiently, intuitively, without judgment. You listen to muscles that I’ve ignored. You find tension I didn’t even know I was carrying (emotionally and physically). And somehow you always know exactly what needs attention before I say a word. This last visit, I was on the table thinking “wow, she’s my doula.”

You’ve seen me walk in stressed, exhausted, tight from long labors and longer nights and you’ve helped me walk out grounded, aligned, and breathing deeper.

You remind me that caretakers need care too. That strong women still need support. That tending to the body isn’t indulgent, it’s maintenance for the work we’re called to do.

Thank you for being the calm after the contraction.

The exhale after the push.

The reset between births and life and motherhood and everything in between.

Every doula needs a doula. I’m just lucky mine works on a massage table and reminds me that it’s okay to take time for myself.

Forever grateful for you. You may already know that but now the world should 🤍

“If you’re planning a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), there’s a good chance your provider has mentioned something called a VBAC calculator. For many parents, this tool is introduced early in pregnancy and presented as an objective way to determine whether a VBAC is a “good option.”

But the truth is, the VBAC calculator is deeply flawed, biased, and often misused in ways that limit informed consent and bodily autonomy.

As a doula in Charlotte, N.C., I’ve seen how much power this single number is given... and how much harm it can quietly cause. I see how this calculator can limit options, undermine confidence, and quietly steer families toward repeat cesareans... sometimes without full, informed consent.

Let’s discuss this a bit.”

Full blog post in comments! I’d love to hear if the vbac calculator was used on you and did you have a successful vbac or have a repeat cesarean? Do you think the percentage was accurate?

With the growing number of unsupportive providers and unnecessary cesareans, this is a topic I am passionate about. Informed consent is everything.

What was supposed to be my first doula baby of 2026 had other plans and decided to be the last baby of 2025 for Statesville Doula & Lactation, born tonight with determination to make it quick 💛

There’s something really special about closing out a year this way. So grateful for every family who trusted me with their journey in 2025. Thank you for letting me walk alongside you during one of life’s biggest moments.

Wishing all the families I’ve supported this year a happy, healthy New Year and I’m so excited for the families I’ll be supporting in 2026. Here’s to another year of babies, growth, and meaningful connections ✨
