Huella eterna Se fue el pilar de nuestra casa,el amor fiel de mis días,el abrazo seguro de los hijos y la risa tierna para los nietos.Fuiste esposo en la complicidad,padre en la guía y el desvelo,abuelo en la dulce paciencia de regalar besos sin medida.Hoy queda un silencio hondo,pero vive tu eco en la memoria.En cada enseñanza que sembraste,en cada latido de esta familia,sigues aquí, habitando el alma.Descansa en paz, amor eterno,guía de estrellas en nuestro cielo.

Marilyn Hooton passed away Thursday, June 6th, at Lassen House in Red Bluff, California. She was born in Hollister, California, on June 22, 1932. She was very proud of her California heritage, being descended from Maria Bernal, who came as a two-year-old member of the De Anza Spanish colonial expedition, arriving in San Francisco in June of 1776. She graduated from Hollister High School, where she was a cheerleader for the Haybalers. She attended the College of Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, California. She married Bill Hooton Sr. to become a ranch wife. During their marriage, they lived in various towns and cities following Bill’s career with the California Department of Food and Agriculture. While in Chico, she earned her master's degree in music from CSUC and taught in the music department for several years. While in Sacramento, she taught piano. She was in the Sacramento Cathedral choir and had the privilege of singing in the Sistine Chapel in the presence of Pope John Paul II. She was an officer and organist for the Sacramento Elks Lodge #6. She was also a past president of the California Music Teachers Association. She is survived by daughter Lynn Strang (Ed) and son Bill Hooton Jr. (Karin). Grandchildren Rachel Simpson(Jeff), Carisa Hertz (Corey), and Bryce Hooton (Anya). Great-grandchildren Christopher Simpson, Hunter Strang, Rikala Rix, Kai Hertz, and Kira Hooton. There will be a Catholic Mass and graveside service in Hollister at a future date to be determined.

Odette Clarisse Perez, known lovingly by many as "Mama O," passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 92 & 1/2, at Roseleaf Gardens Assisted Living in Chico, California. She lived a long, full, and beautiful life marked by warmth, laughter, unwavering faith, and a genuine love for the people around her. Although dementia gradually dimmed the brilliance of her mind in her later years, it never diminished the sweetness of her spirit or the kindness that defined her life.
Odette was born on February 1, 1934, in France, the daughter of the late Gracianne Casassus. A bright and determined young woman, she earned her Certificate of Primary Education from the Bordeaux Academy of France at just fourteen years old, issued by the Academy Inspector for the Department of Basses-Pyrénées on June 16, 1948. Soon afterward, she and her family made the journey across the Atlantic and settled in San Francisco, California, where she attended Galileo High School and graduated on June 11, 1952.

Not long after graduation, Odette met the love of her life, Joseph L. Perez, at a dance. Their love story began on the dance floor and led to their marriage on June 21, 1952, at Our Lady of Victory Church in San Francisco. Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, faith, and devotion.

Odette became a proud citizen of the United States on April 12, 1955, receiving her Certificate of Naturalization. Later that year, she pursued her passion for cosmetology,...
