Welcome to July. Let’s turn the page. 🗓️

We are officially halfway through the calendar year. A new month presents the perfect opportunity to hit the pause button, look back at the first half of the year, and ask yourself: “How am I really doing?”

If the spring was full of stress, academic exhaustion, or life changes, you don't have to let that heavy momentum dictate the rest of your summer. July is a completely blank slate.

Ready to prioritize your mental wellness this July? Huddleston Counselling Services is accepting new clients. Call us at (361) 991-3001 💚

It’s only the end of June... 🫠☀️

If you’ve already found yourself looking at the calendar and wondering how many weeks are left until the first day of school, take a deep breath. You are definitely not the only one asking this question right now.

When school let out, we all envisioned a summer of perfect peace and relaxation. But by late June, the lack of a daily routine can start to take its toll. Boredom sets in, screen time creeps up, tempers get a little shorter, and everyone's emotional batteries start running low.

At Huddleston Counselling Services, we want to remind you that losing your rhythm in the middle of the summer is completely normal. Both kids and adults thrive on structure, and navigating these open-ended months can be a hidden source of stress.

If you're already feeling "done" with the summer chaos, try a mini-reset:

Call a time-out for everyone: Dedicate an hour in the afternoon where the house goes completely quiet—no screens, no planned activities, just independent resting or reading.

Give yourself grace: Every day doesn't have to be a picture-perfect vacation milestone. Keeping things simple is better for your mental health.

Build a support system: Sometimes, having an objective professional to talk to can give you the tools to rebuild a peaceful household dynamic.

You don't have to just "survive" until August. Let's work together to help your family find its stride again.

Feeling the mid-summer burnout? Give our office a call at (361) 991-3001 to find an appointment time that works for you. 💚

It’s June 29th. How is the summer schedule actually holding up? ☀️

When the school year ended a month ago, the plan was simple: plenty of rest, fun activities, and perfect balance. But by late June, the reality of "no routine" often starts to look like irregular sleep schedules, parental burnout, and rising screen time.

If the initial excitement of summer has worn off and given way to irritability or anxiety, you are not alone. It’s incredibly common for both kids and adults to struggle when the structural anchor of the school year is missing.

A quick tip for a mid-summer reset:

Pick one anchor point: You don't need a strict 8 AM to 5 PM schedule, but keeping a consistent wake-up time or family dinner hour can drastically lower baseline anxiety.

Protect your quiet time: Ensure everyone in the house has at least 30 minutes of unstructured, screen-free downtime daily.

Let's work together to build a summer rhythm that actually feels restful for the whole family.

Huddleston Counselling Services offers sessions throughout the summer months to help you navigate life's shifting seasons. Call (361) 991-3001 and ask about our open appointment slots. 💚

The text books are returned. The lockers are cleared. The final bell has rung.

Whether you are a student who survived an intense semester of exams, a graduate looking at a brand new chapter, or a parent who successfully managed the chaotic marathon of May—you made it.

Before the summer rush officially begins, Huddleston Counselling Services wants to invite you to take one collective, deep breath. Let your shoulders drop. You don't have to carry the weight of the school year into tomorrow.

As Mental Health Awareness Month draws to a close, remember that taking care of your mind doesn't stop when school stops. Summer is the perfect time to:

• Decompress from academic burnout.

• Reflect on the challenges of the past year.

• Heal and reset so you can head into the fall stronger than before.

It's never just another day, but today is especially exciting as we are down to the final days of the school year! While everyone expects to feel nothing but pure excitement right now, the truth is that major transitions often bring a hidden wave of anxiety.

For students, leaving behind a predictable daily routine, teachers, and daily peer connections can feel unsettling. For parents, the sudden shift to managing summer schedules can feel overwhelming.

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, Huddleston Counselling Services wants you to know that it is completely normal to feel a mix of relief and uneasy anticipation right now.

Preparing for the summer shift? We are currently booking sessions for June. Call (361) 991-3001 to reserve a time that works for your family's new schedule. 💚

You are right in the middle of the final sprint before the final day of school. The pressure to finish perfectly, ace every test, and check every box can feel incredibly heavy right now.

As we continue to highlight Mental Health Awareness Month, Huddleston Counselling Services wants to remind you of a vital truth: Your mental well-being matters far more than any final grade, report card, or end-of-year checklist.

If the pressure is getting heavy today, try this:

• The 5-5-5 Rule: When anxiety spikes, breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 5, and exhale for 5.
• Step Away: A 10-minute break away from your desk or screen can completely reset your focus.
• Talk it Out: Give words to your stress instead of keeping it bottled up inside.

We’re here to help you unpack the pressure and navigate these intense transitions with confidence.

Need a safe space to process the stress? We offer both in-person and virtual sessions to fit your busy schedule. Call us at (361) 991-3001 to book a check-in. 💚

On this Memorial Day, the team at Huddleston Counselling Services pauses to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are profoundly grateful for their selflessness, and our hearts are with the families who carry their legacy today.

In our continued commitment to supporting our local military community and their loved ones, we are incredibly proud to share a new update: Huddleston Counselling Services is now officially accepting Tricare.

We know that military life brings unique challenges, transitions, and sacrifices. We are dedicated to providing a safe, dedicated space for service members and their families to find support, healing, and mental rest.

Today, we honor the fallen. Tomorrow, and every day after, we remain committed to serving those who are here.

The alarms are set, the final projects are packed, and the countdown to the last day of school is down to days, not weeks. For students and parents alike, this last week of school can feel less like a celebration and more like a sprint to the finish line.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of year-end tasks, testing anxiety, or the impending shift in your daily routine, take a deep breath. You’ve made it this far.

Don't wait for summer burnout to set in before seeking support. Call (361) 991-3001 to schedule a session with us today.

📖 "For I know the thoughts that I
think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace,
and not of evil, to give you an expected end." —
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

As we close out the very first weekend of the summer
break, it is easy to look at the open months ahead or
the changes in our schedules and feel a sense of
uncertainty. This beautiful verse reminds us that God's
intentions for His children are rooted in true peace and
a purposeful future. We can rest safely in His ultimate
design for our lives.

Only those who believe on the name of Jesus Christ
can have this promise of peace!

• Believe that we all have sinned. Romans 3:23: "For all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
• Believe that the penalty for our sin is death. Romans
6:23: "For the wages of sin is death."
• Believe that Jesus died and rose again on the third
day to pay the penalty for our sin. John 3:16: "For God
so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life."
• Believe that you can call on Jesus anytime to save
your soul. Romans 10:13: "For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Find strength and peace in these words today. 🥰

life's transitions and find mental rest this season,
