Leadership | Collaboration | Impact
Together, Jessica Blakeslee, Serena Grant, and Dr. Jinnelle V. Powell represent the women behind Distinctive Counseling & Consulting’s latest grant award.
Jessica Blakeslee, a doctoral student, served as the lead author and directed the grant-writing effort alongside her coauthors, Serena, a masters level counseling student, and Dr. Powell, PhD, LPC-S. Together, they secured $85,000 in grant funding from Heart Galleries of Texas, facilitating DCC's ability to serve post-adoption and post-kinship families throughout Region 11 for a third consecutive year.
This collaboration tells a meaningful story of mentorship and growth. Jessica and Serena are both mentees of Dr. Powell, DCC’s Founder and CEO. Dr. Powell has had the privilege of watching them deepen their expertise, strengthen their voices, and step more fully into leadership. Mentorship at its best makes room for emerging leaders to recognize their strengths, take ownership of their work, and create an impact of their own.
With this funding, DCC will continue to provide free play therapy and EMDR therapy to eligible families who have exited the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services system.
Today, we celebrate the entire team while giving special recognition to Jessica Blakeslee and Serena Grant, emerging leaders whose work is already creating meaningful community impact!
📣 Stay tuned for eligibility details and more information about accessing these services through Distinctive Counseling & Consulting, PLLC, the Coastal Bend’s premier destination for trauma-focused care.
