Did You Know? 🩺

Diabetes is the most costly health condition in the United States, accounting for 25% of all healthcare spending and costing an estimated $640 billion in 2021.

For uninsured individuals, the cost of diabetes medications can be an overwhelming burden. At Mission of Mercy, we’re grateful to serve patients who may otherwise have to choose between essential medications and other everyday expenses.

We believe access to the medications and care you need shouldn’t depend on whether you can afford insurance. 💙

Last Friday, Mission of Mercy was honored to host the IRT Operation Health & Wellness breakfast and awards to celebrate the incredible work happening in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success—from our IRT partners and community organizations to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters. Most importantly, we are grateful that so many members of our community were able to receive the care, resources, and support they needed.

The service numbers shared represent the combined totals from all three IRT Operation Health & Wellness locations, highlighting the incredible reach and impact of this community-wide effort.

💙 Volunteer Spotlight: Alexandra H., RN 🩺

We’re proud to highlight Alexandra H., RN, a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at Baylor University and a clinic volunteer at Mission of Mercy Medical Center, where she is completing her clinical hours to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

From the moment she joined our team, Alexandra has been inspired by the compassion shown by our staff, volunteers, and patients. She has enjoyed building relationships with patients, helping them navigate chronic health conditions, and seeing firsthand how access to consistent healthcare can transform lives.

"Every day I am at Mission of Mercy, I know I am making an impact because patients tell me how grateful they are for us," Alexandra shared.

Her passion for serving others is rooted in the belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and she is committed to advocating for those who need it most wherever her career takes her.

To anyone considering volunteering, Alexandra has one message: "Mission of Mercy is a safe and wonderful environment. You will learn so much and have so many opportunities to make a difference in Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas."
