This moment made me so incredibly happy. 💜

Jessica Blakeslee and I had the opportunity to present our Connected EMDR Model at the 2026 EMDRIA Conference. This model would not be what it is without Jessica’s insight, clinical wisdom, creativity, and the many hours she invested in developing it alongside me.

Jessica, thank you for challenging my thinking, strengthening our work, and bringing so much care and intention to every part of this process. This has been a true collaboration from the very beginning, and I am so proud of what we have created together.

Standing beside you and sharing our work with the EMDR community was such a joyful and meaningful moment. I am grateful for you, proud of us, and so excited about where we take the Connected EMDR Model next! 🥹✨

This week I received the EMDRIA 2026 Emerging Leaders Award, and I am still taking it all in. 💜

This recognition means so much because EMDR has become deeply connected to the work I feel called to do: expanding access to trauma-focused care, training and mentoring counselors, and creating spaces where clinicians can grow in confidence and competence.

Although this award has my name on it, it also reflects the mentors, colleagues, collaborators, trainees, and communities who have trusted me and supported this journey.

I am incredibly grateful to EMDRIA for this honor and excited about what is still ahead. I really am just getting started. ✨

Closing out my 7th and final CompassionWorks EMDR Training of the summer today 💚

After trainings across Texas, virtually, and in Mississippi, our Delta State University group finished Weekend 2, and they are now ready to begin practicing EMDR with clients while continuing consultation and moving closer to becoming EMDR Trained.

I’m so grateful for this group, and for every clinician I had the opportunity to train this summer. What a season. 🧠✨

What an incredible seven days of learning, connection, and growth! 💙

From Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, to Healing in Progress in McAllen, Texas, I had the opportunity to facilitate two back-to-back CompassionWorks EMDR Basic Trainings, supporting clinicians as they build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate EMDR therapy into their work.

I also stopped by Mission CISD on my way back home for our first group consultation as part of their Distinctive Learning EMDRIA Certification Package. Their school counselors received their new NeuroTek EMDR kits and engaged in consultation as they continue their journey toward EMDRIA certification.

It is incredibly meaningful to support counselors and clinicians as they expand their ability to provide trauma-focused, evidence-based care within their schools, practices, and communities.

I am grateful for every clinician, counselor, and organization that continues to invest in healing, professional growth, and the people they serve.

What a meaningful experience returning to Delta State University to provide our second CompassionWorks EMDR Basic Training! 💚

I am grateful to the university, organizers (Dr. Kate Johnson and Darla Poole), collaborators (Delta Sigma Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota), and participating clinicians from the Delta who helped create such an engaging and growth-focused learning environment. It was an honor to support professionals as they strengthened their understanding of EMDR therapy and developed new skills to serve clients impacted by trauma.

I’m excited and honored to share that I have been appointed to serve a three year term beginning July 15, 2026 on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory, & Research.

This is such a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the counseling profession through scholarly service, peer review, and support of research that informs counseling practice, supervision, and counselor education.

Spent the day in College Station connecting with Dr. Carly McCord’s incredible team at the Texas A&M Health Telehealth Institute and learning more about the innovative work happening to expand healthcare access across rural Texas.

In my role with the TAMUK Rural Mental Health Institute, I’m excited to be collaborating with partners who share a commitment to ensuring that geography is not a barrier to quality mental health care. From exploring emerging telehealth initiatives to discussing future grant opportunities, these conversations reinforced what I already know: change happens when passionate people come together around a shared mission.

South Texas communities deserve accessible, responsive, and culturally relevant mental health services, and I’m grateful to be part of efforts that are working toward that goal.
