Overachieving Sh*tshow I’m Dr. Kate Rodriguez, I'm a therapist, speaker, overachiever, and total sh*tshow. Here we talk burnout, ambition and boundaries. But I’ve lived this work, too.

I created Overachieving Sh*tshow for people who are successful on paper but secretly exhausted from trying to do it all. I’m Dr. Kate Rodriguez – licensed professional counselor supervisor, forensic evaluator, speaker, and founder of My Healing Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and a doctorate in counseling education and supervision, I’ve spent my career helping others heal from trauma, manage burnout, and reconnect with their sense of purpose. As a professor, mother, and Latina business owner, I know firsthand how easy it is to lose yourself while doing everything “right.” That’s why I now lead conversations on stages and in workshops that cut through the noise and offer practical, research-backed tools for change. Because burnout doesn’t have to be the price of ambition.

The haunting look in her eyes….☹️

I am sure most women who look at this painting can feel the woman’s pain in her eyes. She is a constant reminder at the office of the struggles that women and mothers go through every day🤰🏽

But here’s the thing about burnout: You can fly halfway around the world and still bring your overachieving, mentally exhausted self with you. Apparently, your to-do list doesn’t care about time zones. 🙃

I wrote about this for The Bend Magazine and why taking a vacation is wonderful but learning how to actually REST is a whole different adventure.

Because we weren’t put on this earth to spend our lives answering emails and recovering from our own ambition.
