Herbal Benefits of Lilac:
1. Calming & Nervine:
Lilac flowers have mild calming properties. Drinking lilac tea or simply inhaling the scent can help ease anxiety, emotional stress, and nervous tension.
2. Fever-Reducing (Febrifuge):
Traditionally, lilac was used to help lower fevers. A tea made from the flowers or leaves was sometimes given for flu or colds.
3. Antimicrobial & Astringent:
Lilac has gentle astringent and cleansing properties. It can be used in skin care to help tone the skin, tighten pores, and reduce inflammation (especially in facial steams or infused oils).
4. Digestive Aid:
Historically, lilac was used to support digestion and help with parasitic infections—though this was more common with the bark or leaves, and less so the flowers.
5. Headache & Tension Relief:
The aroma alone is helpful in reducing headache tension. You can make lilac-infused oil for temple massage or baths.
6. Energetic Cleansing:
Spiritually and energetically, lilac is used to clear emotional residue—especially grief or sadness held in the heart space. It’s great in flower essences or smudge bundles (if dried properly and used with care).
