Reflecting on this beautiful birth that I was privileged to be a part of last year. This first time mama entered labor open minded and ready for guidance, strong and sure of her ability to manage whatever came her way. Sometimes in birth we like to say that there’s always a little magic dust and you never know exactly where it’s going to fall and give you a little surprise.
In this case the surprise was that as she walked through the gates of birth, her body opened and became ready for her baby and every stage looked just as she’d envisioned. Her sweet partner held her as she journeyed, her mama watched her daughter become a mama and her midwife guided her as she roared her baby into the world. Everyone witnessing knew we were witnessing a powerful mother being born.
