Tiffany, our program director, started an initiative with the Floyd County Jail to carry the message to incarcerated women.
During her first week she was met with a captive audience of 30 women!
12 step recovery teaches us that you only keep what you have by giving it away. We are excited to see Tiffany grow as she selflessly shares her time and knowledge with the women and we are hopeful to see a lasting impact in the lives she's touching outside of our home.
We are grateful for the partnership with the jail and for the sheriff and his team seeing the benefit of peer led recovery and trusting Tiffany to carry it out safely and effectively.

Last week was a hard week at GH. We received news that one of our girls passed away from this disease. While she did not graduate, she was one of our own none the less.
We spent the week checking in on each other and sharing stories and pictures of her.
Anytime we lose one- we take it personal, afterall our goal is to save them all.
While we did not save her in the flesh we know that she was saved during her stay at GH.

And in true fashion, while we were hurting we were reminded how important our work is and how special our home is.
A graduate experienced a terrible fall and broke her back and immediately came home to GH. We spent the week loving her, assisting her and helping out with her kids.

We can't win them all. It's just not realistic to expect to. But the ones we do win, we win for life.
We will forever be grateful Genesis House is a home for so many beautiful souls.

If you're struggling, please reach out. There are so many people in your corner that you haven't even met yet.

As another school year closes we remind you that we love retired backpacks.

As the school year closes, we would like to request that if you are retiring your kiddo's backpack to get a new one for next season, please consider donating their old one to GH.
The ladies carry around a lot of books and notebooks from house to house and backpacks are a hot commodity.
Reach out if you need more info on where to drop off. As always, thanks for supporting us

The alumni car wash was rained out this morning but not from lack of effort--- our gals braved the rain until thunder and lightning started and they called it with only $20 in their pot.
Molly shared why the car wash is important and how you can still help.
Please take a second to hear what she has to say.

When you get a ton of donations you've gotta get creative to use them before you lose them.
This morning we knocked out over 100 breakfast sandwiches!
We did have to purchase cheese slices and bacon but only spent $22 towards the project.
All sandwiches have been wrapped in deli paper (also donated) and went into the freezer for quick grab and go breakfast options.
We've got bacon, sausage and ham- egg and cheese biscuits and English muffins.
Great job ladies.

Last night we celebrated Miss Jessica and Miss Lindsey as our 81st and 82nd graduates. It has been an honor watching them navigate this stage of their lives and we are excited to see what's next. Congratulations ladies!
Also pretty cool to have 16 graduates in attendance. We love seeing them continue to thrive and encourage others. Keep up the great work ladies.

Wednesdays are wild man!
Today we had 12 graduates pop in throughout the day.
It was loud and chaotic and full of laughter. But at one point in time I saw a game of telephone being passed around with a pool noodle and just had to shake my head and snap a pic.
I love these ladies. The alumni group continues to grow; seeing them plug back in, stop by for a hug and share their lives with us is so beautiful.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday with a staff development lunch was the perfect way to blend celebration with conversation. While I epically failed at getting a group picture, the camaraderie was absolutely top-tier. A team that feels supported, valued, and heard is a team that sticks around.I truly have the best group of ladies in the trenches with me on the daily. Today, we focused on setting healthy self-care boundaries and keeping work-life separation. I hope we can keep building these skills so we all stay strong and healthy enough to keep fighting the good fight. Until then, we shall eat tacos. 🌮❤️

On my way back from a meeting, I saw a little turtle struggling to cross the road. Now, I could have been a monster and just driven around him, convincing myself that "that's just nature."
But instead, I played the hero. I took an extra few minutes to drive up the road, safely turn around, turn on my hazards, and pick up this tiny, terrified dude. It took exactly 120 seconds to completely change this turtle's life.
Working at the Genesis house is a lot like rescuing turtles. Sometimes, the folks we help need us at the most inconvenient times—usually right when I’m about to sit down for lunch or walk out the door for the day. And sure, to some, the help they need might seem simple, or even silly. But what they really need is someone to say, "I am willing to inconvenience myself and turn on my human hazards for you, because you matter."
Go outside your comfort zone and help someone today. You never know how much a tiny, heroic gesture might change their life. (Plus, you'll feel like a hero).
