Are you ready?? We are!! Summer School starts Monday (9-12). No need to bring anything. Breakfast is provided and we will sort out the log-in’s and classes when you get here.

Sometimes, in the middle of a meltdown, it's incredibly hard to remember that our child isn't trying to make our day harder — they're struggling, too.

Learning and growing is uncomfortable for all of us, adults included. Children aren't born knowing how to manage disappointment, frustration, or big emotions. Those skills are built over time through practice, support, and connection.

The next time your child melts down after hearing "no," or pushes back against a limit, pause for just a moment and remind yourself:

Your child isn't giving you a hard time. They're having a hard time. 💜

Harrison County Youth Advocacy is hiring a family support/ resource person for the 2026-2027 school year.

This is an ideal position for someone with a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, education, social services, criminal justice, or sociology who needs experience to pursue career opportunities in their chosen field. This position includes generous paid time off, as it is salaried instead of hourly for the upcoming school year.
