Can You Breastfeed After Breast Augmentation?

How Long Do Breast Implants Last?
One of the most common questions patients have about breast implants is: “How long will they last? Do I need to replace them after a certain number of years?”
Dr. Mirrafati explains that breast implants are not considered lifetime devices. According to the discussion in the video, the FDA recommends considering replacement around every 10 to 15 years.
However, Dr. Miraafiti shares a different perspective from his own practice: “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”
He also discusses newer memory gel implants, explaining that if a rupture occurs, the gel can remain contained within the surrounding capsule rather than spreading throughout the body.

Saline vs. Silicone Breast Implants: Which Looks More Natural?

One of the most common questions Dr. Mirafati hears from breast augmentation patients is: “Which implant looks more natural, saline or silicone?”

The answer depends on what you mean by “natural.”

When it comes to feel, silicone implants generally feel more like natural breast tissue. Saline implants can also look and feel good, but silicone tends to provide a more natural feel, especially when touched.

When it comes to appearance, however, both saline and silicone implants can look very natural when the right implant, placement, and surgical technique are used.

According to Dr. Mirafati, proper implant positioning is one of the most important factors in achieving a natural-looking result. With saline implants, additional attention may sometimes be needed to implant placement and the breast fold to help create a softer, more natural appearance.

Another important consideration is cost. At Mira Aesthetic, the difference between saline and silicone may be around $1,000 for a straightforward breast augmentation, although the final cost can vary depending on the patient's individual needs.

Do breast implants really need to be replaced after 10 years?

In the final episode of Dr. Mirrafati’s educational series, he discusses the sixth and final reason people may consider changing their breast implants after 10 years.

If your implants are not causing issues such as capsular contracture, displacement, asymmetry, shifting, bottoming out, or deflation, there may not be a reason to automatically replace them simply because they have reached the 10-year mark.
