Opiate Detox Institute

Opiate Detox Institute Experience safe, rapid detox in a surgical setting, and experience recovery in a relaxing retreat center staffed with experts.

Experience safe detox in only 30 to 90 minutes in a surgical setting, and experience recovery in a relaxing retreat center staffed with experts. Rapid detox is a procedure that’s designed to safely accelerate the process of removing drugs from within the body’s systems with the help of naloxone, which reverses the effects of opioids. Lasting anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, the procedure is coupled with monitoring by medical staff.

One of the benefits of 24/7 medical supervision during detox is that symptoms can be addressed promptly as they arise. With around-the-clock nursing care, physician oversight, and standing treatment orders, patients have access to support for issues such as nausea, restlessness, body aches, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalances. This level of monitoring helps improve comfort and allows medical teams to respond quickly to changing needs throughout the recovery process.

Performing rapid detox in a hospital setting is significantly safer because it allows for ICU-level care with continuous monitoring and access to specialized equipment and support staff. This includes nurses trained in critical care, respiratory therapists, EKG monitoring, and rapid access to additional specialists when needed.

Hospital-based care also allows for thorough pre-operative evaluation by internal medicine and cardiology teams, as well as timely access to labs and imaging before, during, and after the procedure.

Supporting patients after rapid detox involves addressing the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise during recovery, which often includes significant ups and downs. Care teams typically incorporate counseling support and may recommend additional medical tools such as Vivitrol to help reduce cravings and support relapse prevention during the early recovery period.

The focus is on giving patients structured support to improve stability and long-term outcomes. ⚖️

Many facilities are not able to offer rapid detox because the procedure must be performed in a hospital ICU setting with continuous monitoring and specialized medical support. Patients require 24-hour nursing care, ICU-level supervision, and the presence of an anesthesiologist during the sedation process.

Because of the level of expertise, equipment, and coordination required, not every facility is equipped to safely perform this type of treatment.

Detox should not be viewed as a quick fix where you go under anesthesia and wake up feeling completely normal. Even if the withdrawal isn’t consciously remembered, the body still goes through the process and needs time to recover and reset. Our team often recommends allowing 7–10 days for recovery with no responsibilities, prioritizing rest so the body can fully heal. 💙

Determining whether rapid detox is an appropriate option starts with a consultation. In general, candidates tend to be younger, healthy individuals without significant underlying medical conditions. Patients with heart issues or major systemic illnesses may not be suitable for the procedure. However, eligibility is ultimately determined through a full review of a patient’s medical and medication history during the consultation to ensure the safest and most appropriate approach.

Dr. Nourbakhsh explains how his approach to addiction medicine has evolved over time, beginning in 2015 with traditional treatments like Suboxone tapers and standard detox methods. With a background in anesthesia, he later explored rapid detox techniques and, by around 2017–2018, began offering rapid detox as part of a more integrated approach. Since then, the program has continued to evolve over nearly eight years, combining methods to better support patients through the physical challenges of withdrawal while also addressing the deeper aspects of dependency beyond physical symptoms.

Op**te detox is only the first step in the recovery process and does not address long-term sobriety, rehabilitation, or ongoing support. After detox, there are multiple pathways for follow-up care, and one option offered is a Vivitrol injection, an op**te blocker that can help prevent relapse effects for at least 30 days when patients are compliant. What's most important is continuing care through a structured recovery program tailored to the individual.

Why is rapid detox so uncommon? While it may sound like a quick solution, rapid detox doesn’t address the full picture of addiction. It focuses only on the physical side, not the underlying psychological factors that are critical for long-term recovery.

There’s also a major expertise gap: Most addiction specialists are trained in addiction medicine or psychiatry, while anesthesiologists are trained in sedation—not addiction care.

Combining both skill sets safely is highly specialized, and most physicians are not trained or board-certified in both.
