organization based in Wisconsin SHN was founded in 2013 by Wisconsin mother Linda Lenz after losing her son Tony to an accidental overdose.

Since 2015, Jessica Geschke has served as President of SHN. Jessica began working within SHN and other Wisconsin-based advocacy groups after nearly losing her brother to an overdose. Jessica, along with her board of directors have spent years volunteering including endless hours of planning and executing events to raise money to help educate the public and get those addicted into treatment. Their

tireless efforts have saved so many lives and have saved so many families the pain of losing their loved one. Most recently the Board of Directors have embarked on a new direction with SHN. This has included the renaming of the 501C3 non-profit and branding of the page and new website and a name change to Start Healing Now. This nonprofit organization provides a solid base of continuous care, including resources and financial assistance for safe and structured sober living homes, education, transitional aftercare programs and free access to the lifesaving drug, Narcan. Your donations to SHN fuel the OAK Program, the road to recovery and a new life for those who struggle with the disease of addiction. Your donation will literally save a life! Narcan, provided free of charge and distributed across the country, saves lives daily by reversing the effects of an overdose. We extend our sincerest congratulations to our very own Student Volunteer .lyn4 on her recent graduation from Horicon High School in Wisconsin.

We are delighted to acknowledge her achievements throughout her high school career. Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of joining her friends and family in celebrating this milestone. As she embarks on the next chapter at UW Madison, we wish her continued success and look forward to visiting her in college!

Kianna will continue as a volunteer with us and we are excited to continue to lean on her expertise as a college student with lived experience as an affected family member.

Congratulations Kianna! Go forth and continue to make us proud!

🚨 A Step Forward for School Safety 🚨

The recently introduced School Access to Naloxone Act (S.3588) highlights a growing recognition that schools need the tools and training to respond to opioid overdoses and save lives.

At Start Healing Now, we know that having naloxone available isn't just about emergency response - it's about preparedness, prevention, and protecting our communities. Every school deserves access to life-saving resources and trained individuals who can act when seconds matter.

Through the Overdose Aid Kit - OAK program, we've helped place naloxone in schools across Wisconsin, ensuring students, staff, families, and visitors have access to this critical medication when it is needed most.

One life saved is worth every effort.

💜 Together, we can continue reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and making sure help is available when and where it is needed.

Today is National Naloxone Awareness Day.

Naloxone (Narcan®) is a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose in minutes and restore normal breathing. Many overdoses are witnessed by family, friends, coworkers, or community members—making access to naloxone critical.

You can help by learning how to use naloxone, carrying it with you, and encouraging others to do the same.

Start Healing Now is committed to increasing naloxone access through our Overdose Aid Kit (O.A.K.) program, helping place free naloxone in schools, businesses, churches, and community spaces across Wisconsin.

Together, we can save lives.
