Acorn focuses on using a multidisciplinary approach and consult with your child’s other providers (pediatrician, optometrist, psychologist, dietician, etc.). This helps ensure your child will have a consistent program of care. Children process the world around them through play. All therapy at Acorn utilizes child-centered play and a child’s unique skills and interests to facilitate growth across the areas of focus. Acorn provides occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and feeding therapy.

6/5 - Advanced Child Centered Play Therapy (CE or Program) Live Webinar
Friday 5th 9:30 - 4:30 pm 6 Hours Content: Theories
This training delves into the advanced levels of Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), going beyond the foundational skills of tracking, reflecting, and conveying acceptance. Participants will explore the advanced skills of CCPT and how to implement in a play therapy session with a child client. Through discussions, case examples, and experiential activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of these advanced CCPT skills and how to effectively document their play therapy sessions.
Objectives:
1. Participants will describe advanced CCPT principles used in the playroom.
2. Participants will analyze the core principles of Child Parent Relationship
Therapy.
3. Participants will discuss advanced CCPT play therapy skills.
4. Participants will discuss how to explain CCPT core principles in
documentation.
5. Participants will create their ideal CCPT playroom.
6. Participants will analyze 2 case studies and apply advanced CCPT principles
from the playroom.

What happens when a play therapist does solid therapeutic work in the playroom for several months with only minimal changes seen in the child client? Is it time to consider possible biological sources? Join us as we explore various physical diagnoses that could explain the child client that has been stumping you!
Objectives:
1. Participants will discuss the importance of the presence of the therapeutic
powers of play to facilitate change in child clients.
2. Participants will explore the Adlerian Play Therapy model's
conceptualization of child clients to rule out the root cause of behaviors in
the playroom.
3. Participants will describe 3 physical diagnoses, how they can manifest in a
play therapy session, and how the therapist can facilitate change through
the implementation of Adlerian Play Therapy based interventions.

Saturday 20th 9:00 - 4:00 pm 6 Hours Content: Skills and Methods
Let's get creative! Bringing fun, creative and expressive interventions into the playroom can help the client with self-expression, catharsis and accessing the unconscious. Creative expressive interventions can express where words fail, particularly with child clients who have limited verbalizations. Join us as we dive into expressions without words!
Objectives:
1. Participants will describe the rationale for using creative expression
interventions in a play therapy session with a child client.
2. Participants will analyze Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy theory and when
to apply appropriate play therapy interventions in the playroom.
3. Participants will identify 3 creative expressive Cognitive Behavioral Play
Therapy based interventions to use with a child client.
4. Participants will discuss 3 populations that may benefit from creative
expressive based play therapy interventions.
5. Participants will discuss instances in a play therapy session when creative
expressive interventions may not be appropriate in a play therapy session.
6. Participants will practice 3 creative expressive interventions for clinical
application in a play therapy session with a child client.
