👋 Meet the Team: Tyler & Alyssa! 👋

We're lucky to have not one, but two amazing siblings on the Midlands Living Center team!

Tyler keeps everything running smoothly as part of our Maintenance Team. Whether he's fixing something around the building or stopping to chat with residents, Tyler enjoys getting to know everyone who calls Midlands home. When he's not at work, you'll often find him playing music, he's a member of two different bands!

Alyssa is one of the friendly faces in our Dietary Department, where her favorite part of the job is making residents happy and building relationships with them while learning about their life stories. She loves working with a team that truly supports one another and recently celebrated buying her first home in Underwood! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, cheering on country concerts (Bailey Zimmerman is her favorite!), and if there's pasta on the menu, she's there!

Thank you, Tyler and Alyssa, for bringing your kindness, teamwork, and dedication to Midlands Living Center every day. We're so grateful to have you both as part of our family! 💙

Due to tomorrow's cool weather forecast, we've decided to reschedule our Sensory Wheelchair Wash so everyone can enjoy the full experience!
🫧 New Date: Thursday, July 30
🕝 Time: 2:30–3:30 PM
We appreciate your understanding and can't wait for a warmer afternoon of bubbles, music, and sensory fun! ☀️🦽
In the meantime, our residents had a wonderful time today during a craft group creating their own personalized license plates! From clever sayings to favorite nicknames, each plate was a fun reflection of its creator's personality. We loved seeing everyone's creativity shine!

🌺🌊 The beach is coming to Midlands Living Center!

Join us for a tropical afternoon of Hawaiian-themed decorations, island music, delicious food and drinks, and plenty of summer fun with our residents.

We're looking for volunteers to help serve refreshments, visit with residents, and be part of the fun. If you've got a few hours and a good attitude, we'd love to have you!

🚗🫧 Resident car wash coming soon! 🫧🚗

Have you seen those hilarious TikTok videos where people get pushed through a human car wash? Well... we're putting a Midlands Living Center twist on it! 😆

At the end of the month, our residents will become the "cars" as they make their way through a colorful car wash experience complete with:

🌈 A rainbow sprinkler tunnel
🫧 Colorful foam
🧽 Staff armed with scrub brushes
😂 Plenty of laughs and summer fun

Do you have a special talent you'd love to share?
We're looking for staff members, family members, and volunteers to participate in our Talent Show on July 17th!

Whether you sing, dance, play an instrument, tell jokes, perform magic tricks, or have another unique talent, we'd love to see you take the stage.

What are the chances that two classmates from Thomas Jefferson High School would celebrate their 100th birthdays together—and once again share life’s journey under the same roof?

Meet Iva Lee and Dr. Knott, two remarkable residents of Midlands Living Center who graduated together in 1944 and are now celebrating an extraordinary 100 years of life.

When asked if they ever imagined reaching 100 alongside a classmate, both smiled. Living to 100 wasn’t something they thought much about when they were young. Yet here they are—a century later—still sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom.

Some of the greatest lessons they’ve learned include:

❤️ “Travel and make good memories with your family. One day they might not be here to do that with.” — Iva Lee

❤️ “Prioritize your health and remember that happiness is an internal choice.” — Dr. Knott

As we celebrate these two centenarians, we’re reminded that a life well lived isn’t measured by years alone, but by the love we share, the memories we make, and the people who walk beside us.

Please join us in wishing Iva Lee and Dr. Knott a very happy 100th birthday! 🎉🎂💙

🐰 Meet Elsa! 🐰

For those who are new to our page, we'd like to introduce Elsa, our beloved resident bunny!

Elsa brings comfort, companionship, and plenty of smiles to residents at Midlands. Studies show that interacting with animals can help reduce loneliness and anxiety while improving overall well-being, and Elsa does just that. Whether she's hopping alongside residents during activities or stopping for pets and cuddles, she helps create meaningful moments every day.

What makes Elsa extra special is that she was once a show bunny and was specially trained to be handled and held, something most rabbits don't enjoy!

Keep an eye on our page because we're sure Elsa will be hopping into future posts from time to time!
