Today, on National Disability Independence Day, we celebrate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the progress made toward creating a more accessible and inclusive world. There is nobody better to tell the story of inclusion than Stacey, a Trivium program client.

Like many of the people we support, Stacey relies on accessible transportation to stay connected to her community. When the lift van she depends on is out of service, everyday opportunities, visiting friends, attending community events, and simply being part of the world around her can come to a halt.

We are humbled to be one of the recipients of the Community Foundation of Western Iowa's Community Impact Grant! Thank you to the generous supporters at the Community Foundation for believing in organizations that are making a difference throughout western Iowa.

This grant will help provide Fresh Start Kits for new Trivium clients, including a furnished bedroom and personal hygiene supplies. Starting a new chapter can be overwhelming for anyone, especially individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. A Fresh Start Kit offers comfort, dignity, and support, helping make that transition a little easier.

We truly couldn't fulfill our mission without the support of our community. Thank you to Donna and her team for celebrating this award with us. We can't wait to see the positive impact these Fresh Start Kits will have on the lives of those we serve!

During our 2026 Community Impact Grants Funding Cycle, the Community Foundation elected to award 38 grants to nonprofit and city organizations throughout Pottawattamie County. 🎉

🌟 We are proud to announce that Trivium Life Services - Iowa received a $2,000 Impact Grant to support "Fresh Start Kits" for individuals with disabilities transitioning into their Supported Community Living program. 🌟

Each "Fresh Start Kit" includes essential household furnishings and personal care items, such as a full size mattress and frame, pillows and linens, towels, hygiene supplies, and a storage furniture dresser or organizer.

Thank you to Trivium Life Services for all you do to strengthen and support our community, and for helping individuals move into their new home with comfort, dignity, and confidence. 💚

⚽🏆 Congratulations to program clients Alan and Michael!

Last month, Alan and Michael from our services in Onawa represented their community at the Special Olympics State Soccer Tournament, and we're thrilled to share that their team brought home a 1st Place Championship!

Their hard work, dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship helped lead their team to an incredible victory. We are so proud of all they accomplished both on and off the field.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.

At Trivium Life Services, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life. Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusion, equity, and creating communities where everyone belongs.

As we reflect on this important day in our nation's history, we also recognize the work that remains in building a future where all individuals are empowered to thrive.

💙 A Special Shout-Out to Adam, program client in Atlantic! 💙

At Trivium Life Services, we believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference and recently, one of our clients in Atlantic demonstrated exactly that.

After returning home from swimming at the YMCA, Adam noticed an elderly woman who appeared confused and in distress. Realizing she may have needed help, Adam quickly took action. He invited her inside to ensure she was safe and called 911 for assistance.

While waiting for emergency responders and law enforcement to arrive, Adam offered her a drink and shared an extra meal that was available at the house. Seeing that she was upset and shaking, he did everything he could to provide comfort and reassurance.

Thanks to Adam's quick thinking and compassion, responders were able to identify the woman, locate her family, and safely reunite them. Law enforcement even thanked Adam for stepping in and doing the right thing.

Adam's actions are a wonderful example of empathy, responsibility, and caring for others in our community. We are incredibly proud of him and the positive difference he made during a difficult moment.
