For the past few summers, I have spent countless hours in the gym, pushing weights around, living as a bottom feeder at sea level in Virginia. Sure, I look fit. Then I get completely humbled by climbing peaks in Utah and Colorado. Gym fit just does not equate to climbing at elevation. The hybrid athlete is where it’s at. My goal for next summer is less indoor time, and much more sweating in the landscape. 🌞🌙🌊🏔 @ Hahn Peak

This old girl has kept up with me all week, swam rivers, climbed mountains and charged cows. Never knew she would be such a great trail dog.

I am finally in a place where I can watch the sunrise and sunset without buildings and trees obscuring the view, the stars are a blanket across the sky, and the nights are cold and silent. I’ve been sleeping deep, waking with the dawn, and crawling all over mountains and sandstone. Although I won’t pick a zip code to settle in until next year, I do know that the desert southwest is home. I can feel it in my bones. 👣🌞🌒🌻
