Nurse-Annish Welcome to Nurse-Annish, your dedicated mental health education and support source, managed & curated by a passionate RN. Hello everyone!

This page is your go-to resource for deepening your understanding of mental health and discovering ways to enhance your well-being. My name is Ann-Marie Lamin-Anthony, and I'm excited to be on Facebook as Nurse-Annish. I'm a registered nurse specializing in mental health. As a mental health nurse, my goal is to help people who struggle with mental illness, trauma, addiction, and other challenges.

I see first-hand how common these issues are and how much stigma surrounds them. I want to use social media to help break down those stigmas and start meaningful conversations. On my page, I will share information about different mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and resources for support. I'll also share stories from my experiences as a nurse to give insights into recovery. My hope is that by helping to educate others, we can create more empathy and understanding. I enjoy cooking, shopping, and spending time with family when I'm not at the hospital. I'm looking forward to connecting with others as passionate as I am about mental health advocacy and community. Please message me if you have any questions or want to discuss specific topics. I'm here to help however I can. Follow Nurse Annish to stay informed and supported as you pursue better mental health. Let’s break the stigma and promote mental wellness together. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you all better!

🌿 July may be ending, but our commitment to mental health never does. 💚
As we close out July, let's remember that healing doesn't follow a calendar. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every therapy session, every moment of choosing hope over silence is a step toward better mental wellness.
Mental health awareness is not just for one month—it's an everyday commitment. Keep checking in on yourself. Keep checking in on those you love. Seek help when you need it, and never be ashamed to prioritize your emotional well-being.
At Gallant Minds Psychiatry, we're here to remind you that your mental health deserves the same care and attention as your physical health.
✨ July is ending, but the conversation continues.
Let's keep breaking the stigma, spreading hope, and supporting one another—today, tomorrow, and every day after.
💚 Be kind to your mind.

ARE YOU COPING—or JUST NUMBING THE PAIN?
Temporary escape may look like:
Using alcohol or substances to manage emotions
Constant scrolling, gambling, shopping, or overeating
Isolating from people who care
Sleeping excessively to avoid problems
Ignoring emotions until they feel overwhelming
Try a healthier next step:
Pause • Name the feeling • Reach out • Ground yourself • Seek support
You deserve coping tools that help you heal—not habits that create more pain.
Psychiatric Evaluations • Medication Management

Self-care is not selfish—it is essential. 💚
Today, take time to rest, set healthy boundaries, nourish your body, check in with your emotions, and ask for help when needed. Small acts of self-care can make a meaningful difference in your mental well-being.

Self-care is not selfish—it is strength. 💚
Sometimes, caring for yourself begins with simply acknowledging how you feel. Pause, rest, set healthy boundaries, nourish your body, and allow safe people to support you. You do not have to carry everything alone.
This Self-Care Day, remember: you are worthy of care.

🌡️Hot weather and psychiatric medications require extra caution.
Did you know that certain mental health medications can affect how your body responds to heat? During periods of extreme temperatures, the risk of dehydration, overheating, dizziness, and heat-related illness may increase.

Stay safe this summer by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water.
🧴 Applying a **broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher** and reapplying every 2 hours (or more often if sweating or swimming).
☀️ Limiting time outdoors during the hottest part of the day (10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.).
👒 Wearing lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and UV-protective sunglasses.
🏠 Staying in cool, air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
💊 Taking your medications as prescribed and speaking with your healthcare provider if you have concerns about how heat may affect your medications.

If you experience severe confusion, fainting, seizures, difficulty cooling down, or signs of heat stroke, seek emergency medical care immediately.

Your mental health is as important as your physical health—don't take it lightly.
Stay cool. Stay safe. Stay well. 💚

💚 Anxiety or Panic Attack? Knowing the difference can make all the difference.
While anxiety and panic attacks can feel similar, they are not the same. Anxiety often builds gradually, while a panic attack comes on suddenly with intense physical symptoms. Both are real, both are treatable, and no one should have to face them alone.
At Gallant Minds Psychiatry, we're here to help you understand your symptoms, develop effective coping strategies, and provide personalized, compassionate care.
🧠 Your mental health is as important as your physical health—don't take it lightly.
