Nurse-Annish Welcome to Nurse-Annish, your dedicated mental health education and support source, managed & curated by a passionate RN. Hello everyone!
(2)

This page is your go-to resource for deepening your understanding of mental health and discovering ways to enhance your well-being. My name is Ann-Marie Lamin-Anthony, and I'm excited to be on Facebook as Nurse-Annish. I'm a registered nurse specializing in mental health. As a mental health nurse, my goal is to help people who struggle with mental illness, trauma, addiction, and other challenges.

I see first-hand how common these issues are and how much stigma surrounds them. I want to use social media to help break down those stigmas and start meaningful conversations. On my page, I will share information about different mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and resources for support. I'll also share stories from my experiences as a nurse to give insights into recovery. My hope is that by helping to educate others, we can create more empathy and understanding. I enjoy cooking, shopping, and spending time with family when I'm not at the hospital. I'm looking forward to connecting with others as passionate as I am about mental health advocacy and community. Please message me if you have any questions or want to discuss specific topics. I'm here to help however I can. Follow Nurse Annish to stay informed and supported as you pursue better mental health. Let’s break the stigma and promote mental wellness together. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you all better!

🧩 Do you ever feel disconnected from yourself?
Like you've spent so much time being who others need you to be that you've lost touch with who you really are?
A fragmented sense of self can develop after trauma, chronic stress, difficult relationships, people-pleasing, or years of putting everyone else's needs before your own. It can leave you feeling lost, emotionally disconnected, uncertain of your identity, or like you're wearing a mask just to get through the day.
The good news is that healing is possible.
✨ You are not broken.
✨ You are not too far gone.
✨ You can reconnect with yourself.
Finding your way back to wholeness often starts with self-awareness, self-compassion, healthy boundaries, supportive relationships, and sometimes professional help.
Remember: Healing is not about becoming someone new. It's about rediscovering who you truly are beneath the pain, expectations, and survival strategies.
💚 Be patient with yourself.
💚 Give yourself grace.
💚 Your story is still being written.
Your mental health is as important as your physical health—don't take it lightly.

💚 What People Think Mental Health Is… vs. What Mental Health Actually Is 💚
Mental health is not a weakness. It is not something to hide, ignore, or be ashamed of.
Mental health is a part of everyday life—just like physical health. It affects how we think, feel, cope, heal, and connect with others.
At the African Mental Health Awareness Initiative (AMHAI), we are committed to challenging misconceptions, breaking stigma, and creating safe spaces for honest conversations about mental health in African communities and beyond.
🌱 Let’s replace judgment with understanding.
🌱 Let’s replace silence with support.
🌱 Let’s replace stigma with hope.
Because seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Tired, but sleep isn't helping? Let's talk about the profound exhaustion of depression.

For many, depression is more than just feeling sad; it's a bone-deep physical tiredness that defies rest. This latest visual in our 'Physical Symptoms of Depression' series from Gallant Minds Psychiatry breaks down the Manifestations of Fatigue & Exhaustion.

It’s that constant, overwhelming tiredness, a pervasive heaviness that makes simple daily tasks feel like an insurmountable weight. The impact is real—tasks remain undone, and a difficult cycle where sleep fails to restore you only makes both conditions seem worse.

As our visual reiterates, "YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH. DON'T TAKE IT LIGHTLY."

If you recognize this feeling of persistent fatigue, prioritize your mental well-being. Identify symptoms and find support at gallantmindspsychiatry.com.

Unexplained stiffness or ongoing joint pain with no clear cause? Don't dismiss it as just "aging" or "stress." Depression isn't just a mental state; it has profound, painful effects on your body.

This Visual Guide from Gallant Minds Psychiatry illustrates the direct connection. Low serotonin and norepinephrine—the very chemical messengers shared between mood and pain perception—can lead to widespread muscle stiffness and joint discomfort. This creates a challenging cycle where physical pain can exacerbate depression, and vice versa. Experience of physical pain without a clear physical cause is a real and valid symptom of depression.

🧠 Understanding the Brain-Gut Axis: Tummy troubles you can't explain? Depression may get you in your gut.

The brain and digestive system are strongly connected. Mental health concerns, like depression, can directly impact gut function. Our latest infographic from Gallant Minds Psychiatry (Part 5) highlights the physical digestive symptoms that can be linked, including:

🌀 Persistent Nausea
Indigestion Upset & Indigestion
🚽 Urgent Diarrhea
Constipation

If you’re experiencing these physical struggles alongside mental ones, don't just treat the stomach. Seek holistic support.

Remind yourself: Your mental health is as important as your physical health. Don't take it lightly.

🧠🙏 Mental Health Struggles Don't Make You a Bad Christian
One of the biggest misconceptions in faith communities is that struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges means you don't have enough faith.
The truth is: you can love God deeply and still struggle emotionally.
Throughout the Bible, we see faithful people experience fear, grief, despair, exhaustion, and emotional pain. Their struggles did not make them weak, and they do not make you weak either.
Seeking help is not a sign of spiritual failure.
Therapy is not a lack of faith.
Medication is not a lack of prayer.
God often works through community, wisdom, healthcare professionals, and supportive relationships as part of the healing process.
You don't have to suffer in silence.
You don't have to carry your burdens alone.
You deserve support, compassion, and healing.
💚 Faith and mental health can coexist.
💚 Healing is not weakness.
💚 Asking for help is courageous.
If this message speaks to you, share it with someone who may need the reminder today.

Chest Pain & Depression: A Real, Lesser-Known Link.

When you think of depression, do you picture only mood? Depression is complex, and physical symptoms like chest pain are common and often overlooked.

While you must always rule out heart, lung, or stomach problems with a doctor, this infographic from Gallant Minds Psychiatry highlights the crucial link. The physical pain is valid and can be a direct symptom of depression.

Understanding the linked risks is vital: depression boosts heart disease risk, and heart attack survivors face a higher risk of depression. Don’t ignore either your physical or your mental well-being. They are both parts of the same whole.

Identify your symptoms. Prioritize your well-being. Take the first step at gallantmindspsychiatry.com.
