The American Academy of Pediatrics, Rhode Island Chapter is heartbroken by the mass shooting at Brown University. We offer our deepest condolences and support to the victims, their loved ones, the Brown University community, and all those impacted, locally and beyond.
Gun violence is a public health crisis. Children and young adults deserve to learn, live, and grow in safe communities. We must move beyond thoughts and prayers to evidence-based actions that prevent firearm injury and support healing.
Trauma support resources are available and families can also reach out to their pediatrician for support and guidance.
