Starting June 1, 2026, some people may need to work or participate in a community engagement activity to receive CalFresh. This is called the Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) rule.

This rule includes people who:
• Are between the ages of 18 and 64, and
• Do not have a disability.
