We protect two suburbs of Cincinnati, Villa Hills (which was voted Americas most livable city), and Crescent Springs as well as un-incorporated areas of Kenton County. Our department is a private department whose members are on a combin

👷Maintenance Project on Amsterdam Road in Kenton County👷

Cross-culvert replacement. Slide repairs. Drainage/ditching operations... Oh my!

Beginning Monday, Aug. 3 at 8 a.m., we'll be blocking the road between 3130 and 3134 Amsterdam Road to begin a maintenance project aimed at improving safety. This work will require a 24/7 road closure in this area. Thru traffic will be blocked at Deerfield Drive and River Road. Local traffic will be maintained up until the closure point.

Folks are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes to avoid delays. Message boards are being placed to inform everyone of the upcoming closure.

Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed Tuesday, Aug. 18.

🚒 The Rising Cost of Protecting Our Communities 🚒

Many people see firefighters responding to emergencies, but what often goes unseen is the growing cost of the equipment and apparatus needed to safely do the job.
For volunteer fire departments, every helmet, pair of gloves, radio, breathing apparatus, and set of turnout gear is essential—not optional. The cost to outfit just one firefighter has risen dramatically, from around $6,750 in 2020 to over $22,000 today. Fire engines and ladder trucks have also nearly doubled in cost.

Volunteer fire departments work hard to provide professional service while relying heavily on community support, fundraising efforts, grants, and local funding. These rising expenses make it more challenging than ever to maintain equipment, replace aging apparatus, and ensure firefighters have the tools needed to respond safely.

Please remember that when you support your local volunteer fire service—whether through donations, fundraisers, memberships, or simply spreading awareness—you’re investing directly in the safety of your community and the men and women who answer the call.
