Welcome Baby Boy S! I had the honor of supporting another amazing family through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Mama was fierce and labored at home for a good deal, then continued laboring in the hospital. Dad was attentive and supportive, and I loved supporting them as a team. When the birth plan pivoted, Mama asked all the questions and handled each change with grace. It's always a struggle to have a birth experience go different from how you expect; I'm grateful for clients who are open to being educated and learning all aspects of birth and being prepared in any situation. I'm also grateful for my postpartum check-ins so I can feed my families and get some baby cuddles in too 🥰

Let's get this body ready for labor and birth!

I didn't do any physical activity during my first trimester due to being so sick. Once I started feeling better around 15 weeks, I started incorporating walking, bike rides with the boys, and yoga and pilates. Now that I'm around six months, I want to shift my focus on preparing my body for birth. I don't do these movements every day, but I aim for a few days a week.

Always check with your midwife or OB before incorporating any new physical activity, and always listen to your body!

This is a long one, but it's worth the watch!

Sometimes, OB appointments can be more frustrating than anything else, especially when the provider tells you everything looks great (a direct quote of "baby looks perfect"), then proceeds to say I'll need to return to have the baby's heart checked just in case.

Don't be afraid to ask the questions. The Dr said there was an increase in the risk for heart malformation in babies conceived via IVF, so I asked what the specific numbers were, and it was a .2% increase in risk. He was visibly frustrated that I was asking questions (a red flag for any provider), but I didn't let that deter me. It can feel intimidating to question a Dr about something, but if you have the question, ask it! Practice asking questions before you go to an appointment so you feel more comfortable with it when you get there. And you can always to help educate you and help you feel more empowered in any situation!
