Shelly Easter was born on August 7, 1947, in Waldo, Arkansas, to the late Mahew and Amie Lee Dismuke. From an early age, Shelly demonstrated a love for learning,
compassion for others, and a deep faith that would guide her through life. She graduated from Westside School and continued her education at Southern State College, now known as Southern Arkansas University, where she earned her degree in education. Teaching was far more than a profession for Shelly - it was her calling.
For 33 years, she faithfully served students throughout Columbia County, inspiring young minds, nurturing confidence, and helping shape future generations. Her
impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom and continues through the many lives she touched.

Shelly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Easter; her parents, Mahew and Amie Lee Dismuke; her brothers, Larry and Lee Otis Dismuke; her sister-in-law, Jennifer Dismuke; and many cherished relatives and friends.
She leaves behind her life’s treasures who gifted her with the titles of devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mentor, and friend. With the blessing of a welcoming heart and a spirit that made people feel seen, valued, and loved.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children;
Orvando “OJ” Freeman
Eric Freeman ( Jamie)
Thomas Oliver (Taiyewo)
Yolanda Wade (Andy)
Sherika Easter (Anthony)
Angelina Hartiseld
She was also the proud grandmother of Amari, Keenan (Alyssa), Briani (Ryan), Eric Jr., Jaiden, Lailah, Malchai, and Jaquez.

She was also blessed with three special “bonus daughters” - Dr. Collee Portis, Tenisha Johnson, and LaShandra Harris (Preston) - who held a special place in her heart. Her devoted caretaker, Javier Rivera Torres, provided companionship and care that brought comfort and support during her later years.
Shelly treasured her many friends and prayer partners, including Diana Webster (Wayne), Robert and Cheryl Laumer, Pat Jackson, Marie Martin, Nita Cloud, Brenda and Kenneth Carroll, and countless others whose lives
were enriched by her friendship. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Later in life, she became a faithful member of e Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ward 1, in Jacksonville, Florida. Her unwavering faith was evident in every aspect of her life. Many looked forward to the daily scriptures, inspirational quotes, and encouraging messages she faithfully shared. Her words uplifted spirits, strengthened faith, and reminded others of God’s love.
Shelly found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, meaningful conversations with family and friends, and spending time encouraging those around her. She enjoyed watching Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Matlock,
westerns, and British mystery programs. She also had a well-known fondness for Dr. Pepper, Spam, and ice cream - favorites that brought a smile to her face and to those who knew her well.
Above all else, Shelly loved people. Whether serving as an educator, foster parent, spiritual encourager, mentor, or friend, she gave generously of herself. Her kindness, wisdom, faith, and unconditional love created a lasting

Diane Lynn (Phillips) Cleek, age 70, passed away Saturday evening, May 30, 2026, at her home. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana in April 1956, one of three daughters and a son raised on the Bunker Hill, Indiana farm of parents, Philip and Loretta Phillips. Both beloved parents, one younger sister, and her older brother all preceded her in death. She often spoke with hope of seeing them again upon her own passing. She is survived by a younger sister. Only a few weeks ago, Diane had successfully completed a six-month regimen of chemotherapy following surgery last fall. She leaves behind many relatives and friends who will miss her humor, kindness and compassion.

One might describe Diane as “nuts for mutts” as most everything she did was oriented to the kind and loving support of animals, but especially dogs. Not just her own dogs, but stray dogs, unkempt dogs, dirty dogs, and the neighbors’ dogs. However, she was tremendously kind to all other animals too, and growing up on the farm, loved on the tiny newborn piglets who were trying to survive a frigid midwestern winter, holding them wrapped up in a blanket on top of the warm furnace heating vent, feeding them from a baby bottle or an eyedropper. Or, perhaps it was an unsteady calf who needed a hug and a lift up to help reach udder delight. The chickens? Well, okay, here’s your food and water, but don’t flutter those danged wings around her long blonde hair.

Diane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ed Cleek, and their daughter, Sheila. Diane was very grateful to have lived parts of her life in a variety of countries and states, gaining appreciation and respect for cultures and traditions. She often spoke fondly of the pleasures of walking (almost always with a dog or dogs) around the neighborhoods in Wistow, England, or traipsing up the steep hills of Baustert, Germany. But she equally appreciated the exceptional difficulties seen in the lives of less fortunate residents as they sought to eke out a meager existence while being amazingly kind to visitors.

Diane took on an assortment of job roles over her years, often made challenging by military moves. She did some retail work, institutional cleaning, watch repairs, and engraved recognition plaques. In addition, because military life requires patience, tolerance for changes, and the realities of long separations, she managed myriad household demands, often on her own. In the past couple decades, she appreciated being able to enjoy her tanning opportunities offered by living here in the Sunshine State, but if it was cloudy more than a day or two, she was not pleased. While many people avoid outdoor yard work, she thrived on it.

For many years, Diane attended Central Baptist Church, but health concerns kept her home in more recent years. Nonetheless, she was prayerful and caring on behalf of others. For her, it wasn’t about trying to show off an ability to remember chapter and verse so much as it was the simple act of raising up a name in caring prayer.

The family will be doing a private celebration of Diane's life.
Per Diane’s wishes, part of her cremains will be placed near the memorials of the many dogs and cats she so admirably loved over her decades of life.
