Dr. Mata received his prestigious plastic surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Saint Joseph Medical Center, and MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, as well Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. In addition to the thousands of procedures at these institutions, this specialized plastic surgery training included time in Miami, Florida with heavy focus on Aesthetic surgery with world leading experts specializing in rhytidectomy (facelift), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and breast surgery (augmentations, reductions and lifts) as well as detailed training in the application of injectables (Botox, dermal fillers, etc.). Dr. Mata has also trained in several Children’s Hospitals such as Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts, Dell Children Medical Center in Austin, Texas, and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dr. Mata also obtained a fellowship in craniofacial surgery in an esteemed institution that would have included time in Paris, France. However, the United States government needed Dr. Mata sooner than anticipated. Dr. Mata is currently a Major in the US Army. He currently practices at Eglin Air Force Base and is the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. Prior to obtaining his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas where he received Alpha Omega Alpha honors, Dr. Mata was at Texas A & M University graduating with a degree in Biomedical Science with Cum Laude Honors.
