Helping your child master independence in everyday habits is exactly what pediatric Occupational Therapy is all about.

Here is the clinical milestone roadmap for independent dressing skills:

* By 1 Year: Cooperates by holding out arms/legs and pushing them through sleeves and pants.

* By 1.5 Years: Successfully pulls off their own socks.

* By 2 Years: Finds the armholes in a pullover shirt and removes unled shoes.

* By 2.5 Years: Unbuttons large, one-inch buttons.

* By 3 Years: Zips and unzips a jacket once the bottom hook is fully engaged.

* By 4 Years: Consistently identifies the front from the back of a shirt and inserts a zipper hook independently.

* By 5 Years: Fully dresses themselves completely unsupervised.
