VEST FUNCTIONAL WELLNESS HAS A NEW HOME!

I’m excited to officially announce that Vest Functional Wellness has moved to a new location in Chesterfield!

This move is an exciting next chapter for my practice and gives me the opportunity to continue providing the individualized, whole-body care my patients have come to expect — now in a new space alongside other healthcare professionals.

Vest Functional Wellness remains my independent practice, and I’ll continue working with patients through chiropractic care, Applied Kinesiology, functional medicine, nutrition, movement, and the individualized approach that has always been at the center of what I do.

What if we’ve been asking the wrong question about nutrition?

For years we’ve focused on calories, protein, fats, and carbohydrates. But what if the quality of our food starts long before it reaches our plate?

Emerging research is exploring how healthy soils, diverse pastures, and regenerative farming practices may influence the nutritional profile of the foods we eat. While there’s still a lot to learn, it’s an exciting reminder that human health is deeply connected to the health of our environment.

This isn’t about telling everyone to eat beef!!! It’s about asking better questions and staying curious about where our food comes from.

The 2 most overlooked conversations I have with almost every new patient…

1️⃣ How you move (Exercise)….

2️⃣ What you’re building your body with (Nutrition)….

1️⃣ of the biggest things I’ve noticed in practice is that many people have never had anyone truly explain how they move or what they’re building their body with.

We often hear, “Exercise more,” or “Lose some weight,” but very little time is spent teaching how to move well. That’s one reason physical and occupational therapists are so valuable…….they help people RETRAIN movement patterns instead of just telling them to move more.

2️⃣ conversation is nutrition. Most discussions stop at calories or protein, but I think it’s worth asking deeper questions:

• Where did this food come from?
• How was it grown or raised?
• How much processing happened before it reached my plate?

Research suggests that food quality, farming practices, and the degree of processing can all influence nutrient composition and long-term health. While no single food determines your health, diets centered around minimally processed, nutrient-dense foods are consistently associated with better health outcomes.

These are some of the podcasts that have challenged and expanded my thinking on nutrition, regenerative agriculture, and metabolic health. I encourage you to listen and decide for yourself.

✌️Two people. Nearly identical shoulder pain. Completely different causes❗️

One patient’s pain came from a structural compensation pattern. The other’s came from a neurological dysfunction affecting how the body was coordinating movement.

Same complaint. Different mechanism. Different correction.

Both improved.✅

This is why I don’t believe healthcare should be a one-size-fits-all approach. Pain is often the last symptom of a much bigger conversation happening inside the body. If we only treat where it hurts, we can miss why it hurts.

As a chiropractor utilizing Applied Kinesiology, my goal isn’t just to chase symptoms—it’s to identify the underlying stressors affecting how the body functions and then support the body’s ability to heal.

If you’ve been told everything looks “normal” but you still don’t feel right, it may be time to look at the problem from a different angle.

Sometimes the answer isn’t more treatment. Sometimes it’s a different question.

Watching the waves roll in reminds us that healing doesn’t always happen through force. The nervous system recovers when we slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the rhythms of nature.

Most people are looking for a quick fix. Real wellness comes from consistent movement, quality sleep, proper nutrition, stress management, and taking ownership of your health. One workout at a time. One meal at a time. One habit at a time.

Your body already has a built-in detox system: liver, kidneys, colon, skin, and lymphatics.

If you’re not having regular bowel movements, eating consistently, hydrating, and moving your body, your detox pathways may not be functioning optimally. Before focusing on detox protocols, support the foundations that help your body naturally eliminate waste.

Detox starts with the basics: eat, move, hydrate, and p**p.

⚠️ Pay attention to the details in this one.

Many of the symptoms people experience every day like stress, fatigue, brain fog, emotional overwhelm, even recurring health challenges…… May not be signs that the body is failing.

In many cases, they can be understood as adaptive responses from a nervous system doing its best to protect and regulate you.

That perspective shifts the entire conversation about health.
