Crockett Eye Clinic is excited to announce the addition of two new optometrists to our growing team.

Dr. Matthew McCall, a third-generation Doctor of Optometry, and Dr. Carolyn Ogle will begin seeing patients later this summer.

Joining Dr. John McCall Jr. and Dr. Pope, these additions will allow us to expand access to quality eye care throughout Crockett and the surrounding counties, helping more patients receive comprehensive eye care closer to home.

As our community continues to grow, so does our commitment to providing exceptional patient care, advanced technology, and timely access to eye care services.

We look forward to introducing our newest doctors and serving even more families across East Texas.

Ever wonder why we ask you to wear the funny glasses and look at the giant fly during your eye exam?

That’s called the Stereo Fly Test, and it helps us evaluate depth perception and how well your eyes work together as a team.

When both eyes are properly aligned and communicating well with the brain, you are able to see objects in 3D and judge distances more accurately. This skill affects everything from reading and sports to driving and everyday coordination.

The “fly” may seem simple, but it can help detect issues with binocular vision, eye teaming, amblyopia (lazy eye), and depth perception problems, especially in children.

And yes… we still love watching kids try to pinch the fly’s wings.

Eye exams are about so much more than just reading letters on a chart.
