Before you buy that "natural" algae calcium supplement — read this first. ⚠️

Algae-based calcium is everywhere right now. Marketed as cleaner, more natural, better for you.

But here's something most labels won't tell you: some of these products contain strontium.

Now — deep breath — here's what that means:

Years ago, a drug in Europe called strontium ranelate was prescribed for osteoporosis. It was eventually pulled from the market because of increased risks of stroke and heart disease.

The strontium in US supplements is chemically different. It has NOT been linked to those same risks.

BUT — and this is the part that matters — it also has never been properly studied for safety in the US. We genuinely don't know enough.

Finding it as a hidden ingredient in your calcium? That's a risk I wouldn't take.

Stick with what's studied. Stick with what's known.

Did you know your thyroid and menopause are deeply connected? 🤔

Here’s something I see in my practice all the time:

A woman in her late 40s comes in exhausted, gaining weight, can’t sleep, feeling anxious.

Everyone assumes it’s menopause.

But sometimes? It’s her thyroid. Or both.

Estrogen and thyroid hormones are in constant conversation with each other. When estrogen drops during perimenopause — thyroid function can shift too. The symptoms overlap almost completely.

This is exactly why I don’t look at one thing in isolation. Your hormones are a system.

Have you ever had BOTH checked at the same time? ⬇️

Here's my honest take as an endocrinologist:

K2 is NOT a replacement for proven osteoporosis treatment. If your doctor has recommended medication for your bones, K2 is not a substitute. Full stop.

BUT — as an add-on for women who are already doing the basics right (calcium, Vitamin D, weight-bearing exercise) — it's a reasonable conversation to have with your doctor.

Especially if you:
➔ Are postmenopausal
➔ Have low bone density or a family history of osteoporosis
➔ Eat very few fermented foods

Just don't let supplement companies oversell it. It's a maybe — not a miracle.

Have questions about YOUR bone health? That's exactly what we're here for. 👇

This week I introduced you to Vitamin K2. Today — the honest truth about the research. 🔍

Here's what studies DO show:
✅ K2 consistently improves bone-building markers in the blood
✅ Some studies show modest improvements in spine bone density
✅ It appears safe for most people

Here's what studies DON'T clearly show:
❌ Consistent fracture prevention — this is the big one, and the data is honestly mixed
❌ One rigorous 3-year study? Benefit. Another equally rigorous 3-year study? No effect.

And here's something that doesn't get talked about enough: most of the strongest positive data comes from Japan, where a high-dose version of K2 is actually a prescription drug. The lower-dose version sold in US supplements is different. We can't just assume the results transfer.

Bottom line: promising, but not proven. Helpful context, not hype.

So should YOU take it? Stay tuned for another post. 👇

Tired all the time? Gaining weight? Feeling foggy?

Everyone says “get your thyroid checked.”

And yes — sometimes it IS your thyroid. But here’s the truth:

Most people who come to me convinced they have a thyroid problem — don’t.

Fatigue and weight gain have MANY causes. Thyroid is just one of them. Sleep, stress, hormones, blood sugar, and yes — just the natural changes of midlife — can all look exactly the same.

This is why I don’t just check a single thyroid number. I look at the whole picture.

Have you ever been told your thyroid is “normal” but still felt something was off? Tell me below. ⬇️

Your thyroid is the size of a butterfly.

But don't let that fool you.

This tiny gland controls your metabolism, your energy, your weight, your mood, your heart rate, your body temperature — even your hair growth.

When it's working right, you don't even notice it.

When it's not? Everything feels off.
