The Crookston Eye Clinic doctors completed a training session yesterday morning on our newest diagnostic instrument. We are excited to add the RETeval instrument to our "tool box" of equipment for detecting and managing a number of different eye diseases. The RETeval is similar to an EKG test of the heart, it measures the electrical activity of the retina, macula, and optic nerve. It is particularly good at early detection of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma as it can detect stress in those specialized nerve cells before more permanent damage happens.
The RETeval is a simple painless procedure that only takes a couple minutes per eye with a small handheld device.
