Prostate cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages. So when should men start thinking about screening?

For many men, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟓𝟎. Those at higher risk, including Black men and men with a family history of prostate cancer, may need to start the conversation earlier.

During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, take a few minutes to learn about your risk, when screening may be recommended and the symptoms you shouldn’t ignore.

Our patients have spoken, and they’ve given CRMC 5 stars!

CRMC has earned the highest 5-star patient survey rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), placing us 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟓𝟎 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

The rating comes directly from patient feedback about their hospital experience, including communication with doctors and nurses, staff responsiveness, cleanliness and overall care.

We were proud to be part of Stuff-a-Bus and are so grateful to everyone who donated to help area students start the school year with the supplies they need. From markers and folders to Kleenex, erasers, pencils, notebooks and more, every donation adds up.

With students heading back to school this week, CRMC Chaplain Eusebia “Chappy” Rios shared a timely PAUSE message about a “labor of love.”

Every day, teachers, coaches, custodians and school staff have opportunities to inspire our kids through the work they do, the encouragement they give and the words they choose.

Chappy challenged us to think about how we can do the same at CRMC. How do we inspire our patients and each other? How do we make a difference?

Sometimes it can be as simple as one kind word, taking the time to listen or offering encouragement when someone needs it most. Something we say or do may make a bigger difference in someone’s life than we realize.

To bring her message to life, Chappy created oversized pencils as a visual reminder that we all have an opportunity to make our mark through our own labor of love.

As a new school year begins, it’s a good reminder for all of us to think about the mark we leave on others.

September is Hunger Action Month, and CRMC is proud to partner with organizations throughout our region for a month-long community food drive!

From Sept. 1-30, you can drop off non-perishable food and essential items at CRMC in Crosby and other participating locations throughout the Brainerd Lakes area. All donations stay local and support food shelves and community programs serving our neighbors.

Most-needed donation items include:
• Hygiene products
• Peanut butter
• Pasta
• Canned meats
• Canned fruits
• Canned vegetables
• Shelf-stable meals

Other non-perishable food items are also welcome!

Donations will benefit local organizations throughout the region, including the Cuyuna Range Food Shelf, Community Table in Crosby, Lakes Area Food Shelves, Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army Food Shelf and several others.

As CRMC Foundation Director, Jennifer Lowe plays an essential role in making the CRMC Championship a success. She works closely with sponsors, donors, volunteers and community partners while helping coordinate the many details that bring tournament week to life each year.

From fundraisers like the Pay It FOREward punch game and Hole-in-One Contest to the new hospitality tent and volunteer coordination, Jennifer is behind so much of what makes the CRMC Championship possible.

More importantly, Jennifer ensures the Championship remains connected to its greater purpose: raising funds and building relationships that support CRMC patients, programs and innovation.

Her leadership, passion and countless hours behind the scenes help transform a professional golf tournament into an opportunity to make a meaningful difference throughout our region.

Another CRMC Championship is in the books! ⛳️

It was so much fun seeing so many familiar faces at Cragun’s this past week and meeting many of you at our CRMC Hospitality Tent. We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our community and especially proud to share that $𝟏𝟐𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐑𝐌𝐂 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

Every dollar goes directly toward helping our patients and supporting the care they receive right here in our community.

We also loved watching fans meet and interact with former Vikings player Adam Thielen and Minnesota Wild players Matt Boldy and Ryan Hartman throughout the week. And a special shoutout to local athlete Andrew Israelson of Staples, who had a fantastic showing in the championship!
