We are still needing many art supplies for our children. Can you help by providing some of the items we need? Thanks so much!

At C5 Christian Counseling Center, a 501C3 organization, art is more than just a fun activityโ€”it can be an important part of the counseling process for children. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŽจ

Our counselors use drawing, coloring, crafts, and other creative activities to help children express their feelings, process difficult experiences, build coping skills, and communicate emotions that may be hard to put into words.

We are currently asking our wonderful community to help us replenish our childrenโ€™s counseling art supplies!

We are accepting donations of:

๐Ÿ–๏ธ Crayons & colored pencils
๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Markers & washable paints
๐Ÿ“’ Coloring books & sketchbooks
๐Ÿ“„ Construction paper & cardstock
โœ‚๏ธ Child-safe scissors & glue sticks
โœจ Stickers & craft supplies
๐ŸŽจ Watercolor sets
๐Ÿงธ Play-Doh/modeling clay
๐Ÿ’™ Age-appropriate creative activity kits

Every donation makes a difference! Whether you donate one item or a box of supplies, your generosity helps us provide children with the tools they need to express themselves and participate in meaningful therapeutic activities.

If you would like to donate, please contact C5 Christian Counseling Center or drop off your donations at our office with a prearranged meeting time with our director.

Thank you for helping us continue our mission of Healing Hearts and Minds! ๐Ÿ’™

9/11 is fast approaching and C5 Christian Counseling Center is ready and willing to walk this journey of healing with you. Steps you can take to prepare for your day.

1. Recognizing Your Body's Responses:
Trauma can manifest in unexpected ways. Acknowledging these symptoms is the first step toward regulation:
โ€ข Physical: Rapid heart rate, chest tightness, shallow breathing, fatigue, or unexplained muscle tension.
โ€ข Emotional: Sudden waves of grief, irritability, hyper-vigilance, emotional numbness, or overwhelming anxiety.
โ€ข Cognitive: Intrusive memories, difficulty concentrating, brain fog, or replaying historical events in your mind.
โ€ข Behavioral: Social withdrawal, changes in sleep patterns, appetite disruption, or compulsive news monitoring

2. Shielding Yourself from Media Triggers
News broadcasts and social platforms heavily loop historical footage on September 11th. Protect your mental space
intentionally:
โ€ข Disable Auto-Play: Turn off video auto-play features in your social media settings to prevent unexpected graphic
clips.
โ€ข Schedule Screen Breaks: Commit to specific 'media-free windows.' Choose dedicated physical books, nature
walks, or hobbies instead.
โ€ข Consume, Don't Scroll: If you seek news, read text-based articles rather than watching dramatic video
compilation broadcasts.

3. Rapid Grounding Tools for Acute Distress
If you feel a panic response, flash of grief, or anxiety spike escalating, immediately utilize these physical regulation
exercises:
The 5-4-3-2-1 Sensory Method: Slow your breathing down and look around your immediate environment. Mentally
acknowledge:
โ€ข 5 things you can see around the room.
โ€ข 4 physical textures you can feel (e.g., your clothes, the chair, the floor).
โ€ข 3 distinct sounds you can hear in the distance.
โ€ข 2 things you can smell (or favorite comforting scents).
โ€ข 1 positive thing you can taste or your physical tongue placement.
Box Breathing Method: Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold that breath for 4 seconds. Exhale
completely through your mouth for 4 seconds. Rest with empty lungs for 4 seconds. Repeat this loop four times to
stabilize your heart rate.
