WHAT WE'RE READING: What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami 📚 One of the biggest takeaways is the importance of staying connected to your own journey rather than constantly comparing yourself to others. Success isn't built on one great workout or one perfect performance. It's built through the small choices you make every day to keep moving forward.

As athletes head into a new season, Murakami's reflections serve as a timely reminder: don't lose the plot. Remember why you started. Find satisfaction in the process, not just the outcome. Trust that the daily work—especially the days that aren't glamorous—is shaping you into the athlete and person you want to become.

Sarah here. As you know, Shannon and I love all sports. My family and I had the opportunity to go to a local rodeo in Orange County, Virginia. Nothing like going from the World Cup to the rodeo. However, like all sports, it brings people together. The barrel racing athlete is physically strong enough to be in charge of the larger athlete—the horse. Both have the mental strength to face the fear that comes along with the sport. The bull rider and the rodeo clowns exemplify a "team" having each other's backs and immediately stepping in to protect the rider once thrown. No matter the sport, these are the things we are thinking about when we watch any athlete in their element. 🤠

RESILIENCE REPORT 📂 In 2026, captured the 100-meter freestyle title at the U.S. National Championships, reminding the swimming world that taking care of your mental health does not mean stepping away from excellence—it can be part of the path back to it. 🏊

In 2022 he made the difficult decision to step away from competition to focus on his mental health. At the height of his career—with Olympic gold medals, world records, and enormous expectations—Dressel recognized that continuing to push forward wasn't what he needed most. Instead, he chose to prioritize his well-being. 🥇

That decision took tremendous courage. In a culture that often celebrates constant hustle, stepping back can feel like failure. But Dressel demonstrated something important: taking care of your mental health isn't giving up—it is investing in your future. 🧠

And his return has shown that prioritizing mental health can lead to renewed success. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, he delivered a strong performance on the world stage, signaling that he was back among the sport’s elite. After taking time away, Dressel returned to the sport with a healthier perspective, greater self-awareness, and a renewed appreciation for competing. 🇫🇷

Dressel's journey highlights that resilience is not about avoiding challenges—it is about responding to them in a way that allows you to keep growing. 💪
