Today, on Camille Caffarelli’s birthday, we celebrate how her vision and determination-built Horizons for the Blind into a leading provider of accessible media and braille transcription services where accessible information, independence, and dignity empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired every day. Her legacy continues through every braille document we emboss, and every large-print publication we produce– helping people with visual impairment access consumer products, educational materials, and cultural resource with confidence. It’s vacation time and exploring the world should be accessible to everyone. Today, more destinations are prioritizing inclusive travel experiences for blind and visually impaired travelers through sensory-focused design and accessibility innovation.
Cities like Barcelona, Singapore, London and New Year City are leading the way with tactile paving, audible traffic signals, braille signage, and accessible public transit. For communities focused on accessibility, urban planning, or inclusive design, these cities provide powerful examples of how infrastructure and tourism can align to create equitable travel experiences. What local, national or global cities do you feel most accessible?
