One week ago, we informed our staff and families that Let’s Talk Healing’s ABA Center would be temporarily closing.

A week later, it still hurts.

This was not a decision we wanted to make. After months of navigating administrative and payment challenges, we exhausted every resource available to keep our doors open and continue serving our community.

What weighs on us most is the impact on the children, families, and staff who have trusted us over the years. Children with autism deserve consistent, uninterrupted care, and families deserve better than having essential services disrupted.

While our doors may be temporarily closed, we have not stopped fighting for a resolution. We remain committed to reopening and continuing to serve the families who placed their trust in us.
We ask for your support, your advocacy, and your prayers for the children, families, and staff affected by this closure.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared kind words, and stood with us during this difficult time.

Many of you have asked how you can support us during this difficult time. If you would like to help us continue fighting to reopen our doors and restore services for our families, we have included a GoFundMe link below.

Whether you donate, share our story, or simply keep our children, families, and staff in your prayers, we are deeply grateful for your support.

When communities experience chronic fear, oppression, and the “othering” of their humanity, the nervous system can remain in survival mode.

This may show up as anxiety, overthinking, emotional exhaustion, irritability, numbness, or burnout. These are not signs of weakness, they are human responses to chronic stress and uncertainty.

Please take care of your mental health during this time. Stay connected to community, rest, pray, and seek support when needed.

LTH is currently accepting therapy clients with both male and female clinicians offering culturally responsive care in English and Somali.

Overthinking can leave you feeling mentally exhausted, stuck in worry, fear, or “what if” thoughts.

Sometimes the mind is trying to protect us, but Islam and mental health both teach us the importance of balance: taking action, grounding ourselves, and trusting Allah (swt) with what we cannot control.

Healing is not having zero anxious thoughts.
It is learning not to drown in them.

Swipe through for mental health + Islamic reflections on overthinking.

This month, as we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to celebrate our founder and Treatment Director, Dr. Abyan Bashir, on receiving the Presidential Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Psychology from the Minnesota Psychological Association.

This recognition reflects years of commitment to culturally responsive care, community healing, and showing up for those often overlooked in mental health spaces.

At Let’s Talk Healing, this is why we do what we do. To make care more accessible, more human, and more aligned with the communities we serve.

Here’s to continuing the work!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. All month, we’re sharing what healing actually is — and what it isn’t. Healing isn’t a project with a finish line. It’s the slow work of coming back into relationship with yourself.

Wherever you are this month, you’re welcome here.

Dear Colleagues, Partners, and Community Providers,

I’m pleased to share that our practice has expanded once again, and we currently have capacity to support more clients.

As a multicultural psychologist, my work is grounded in the belief that healing happens when people are given space to fully exist as themselves. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities, with particular expertise in working with BIPOC communities, immigrants, and individuals navigating complex cultural, racial, and intergenerational experiences.

Our team supports clients across the full spectrum of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, relationship challenges, and trauma-related experiences. We have extensive experience addressing the impacts of systemic oppression, migration stress, racial trauma, and sociopolitical stressors that shape emotional wellbeing.

Our approach is holistic and integrative. We understand that mental health does not exist in isolation. We consider each person’s intersecting identities, cultural heritage, family systems, spirituality, and the broader social and environmental contexts that influence their lives. We utilize evidence-based treatments while honoring and incorporating clients’ existing cultural and spiritual practices as vital sources of strength and resilience.

In addition, our practice serves as a practicum training site for master’s-level students in social work, psychology, and related mental health fields. We are committed to mentoring emerging clinicians in culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and socially conscious care.

If you, a family member, friend or know of someone who may benefit from culturally attuned, affirming, and holistic mental health services, we would be honored to serve them. Please feel free to reach out to discuss referrals or consultation needs.

Please sent referrals to [email protected].

We are in network for the following insurances;
-MA and all Pmaps
-Ucare
-BCBS
-Medica
-Hennepin Health.

Ohio residents- We are currenlty accepting clients with BCBS insurane or self-pay.

Thank you for trusting Let’s Talk Healing with your psychological and emotional wellness needs. It is truly an honor to walk alongside you in your healing journeys.

With gratitude,
Dr. Bashir
